I need help estimating what 5000m time I should shoot for in an all comers meet this coming Monday. Based on workouts I estimate about 21:00 pace, but I'm not totally sure.
This morning I ran 3 miles @ 7:20 pace and felt good doing it. My heart rate only got to 92% during the last couple minutes. After about 5 minutes, I ran 6 x 0.25 miles, working down from 6:16 to 6:00 pace (1:34 - 1:30), equal distance jog rest in roughly 3 minutes.
Other workouts and results:
8/13: 1500m race in 5:34.4 {64.5, 89.8, 92.9, 87.2}
8/10: 3 x 1 mi at tempo pace w/ 1 minute rests {7:52.1, 7:54.6, 7:44.6} (it was hot as hell that day and I adjusted based on the VDOT calculator plus this a second quality day in a row)
8/9: 6 x 200 w/ 200 jg rest {51.7, 45.7, 47.1, 48.4, 45.5, 49.8} + 3 x 400 w/ 400 jg rest {87.3, 92.2, 96.3}. I ran all the rests too fast I realized afterwards. Also, it was supposed to be one of those 200-200-400 workouts but my watch is too dumb to be able to program that in and my local track is closed.
8/2 2 x 1 mi at tempo pace w/ 1 minute rests {7:21.3, 7:12.4} + 4 x 200 w/ 200 jg rest {44.7, 50.2, 47.7, 47.3}
Usual easy paces are at 9:50 - 10:10 pace. Run about 35 miles a week and have a long run of 9 - 10 miles a week
