When did Europe become a country? So now all medals for all countries are added together? I think the original comment pertained to your country vs. the US.

Underage drinking is okay with my son's/daughter's college coaches AFAIK as long as it is out of season. At this D1 state school with a party reputation the team members have a team party after the XC season where it is common for the freshmen to get wasted.
The absolute last thing I'd want to do in the world would be to party with my coaches. People do this overseas? Ugh!
Regarding our partying prep, good move by his coach, tired of entitled high school and college kids. However, I would've just done a one-meet suspension based on that his partying occurred during the summer.
Can you clowns also stay off social media, not only is it stupid, but no one gives a sh-t about your stupid party, your dumb friends, and your ugly mug.
Glad none of my runners are this stupid.
Character counts.
I have kicked runners off my team for good for less.
My administration and parents always supported me too.
Time to grow up.
Our state has a very well publicised substance use clause.... First offense, miss 25% of the season, second offense, and additional 60% and no post season play.
I would suggest you look at you school policies and make a big boy decision as to which is more important to you.... Beer or running

I hope the policy is just as strict for the coaches. Don't come to a complete stop at a Stop sign during the offseason? 3 week suspension.
How in the hell can you suspend a kid based on Facebook photos?
No way in hell I would allow my kid to be suspended because a coach saw photos. That's not proof.
Unless the kid was charged by the police, the coach can go piss up a rope.

A good example of why a lot of potentially good coaches do not want to coach youth sports, unless the youths are orphans.

You don't actually have kids do you? Have fun when they're still living in your house when they're 30.
And people wonder why kids are entitled....
Boo! Pray that your daughter and any of her friends don't experience detox symptoms yes even after a few nights of "getting wasted". Sorry but alcohol sir is a nasty drug...I mean have you ever seen ppl going through detox (hallucinations, mood swings, seizures) and you'd be surprised how little it takes for some ppl to start showing these signs. I think the coolest kids are the ones that don't need to put a substance in their bodies to a point of literally poisoning themselves. For the HS kid your reasoning of "I know plenty of really good runners that drink" sorry bub but that all depends on what circles your around. The more serious athletes/runners you meet the more serious they are about their training and what they put into their bodies. (e.g. Ben True does not drink, guaranteed the top distance runners in the us don't drink to get wasted (not sure about Linden since she has a whiskey collection but likely not)). But even at the D3 level the ones that can and do run the best times are going to be your alpha males...they likely are secure enough not drink/not really care about that aspect of their social lives. In a few years from now when your frontal cortex is more developed you'll likely shoot your old HS coach an email to apologize/thank him for caring about you.
Alcohol consumption does not equal social life. Breaking the law does not equal social life. Loose your entitlement and bear this burden you brought upon yourself with grace. Learn from it.
Run and win the JV races, grab your crotch and scream "Gobble Gobble M*****F***ers!!" when you cross the line.
Everyone on these boards is jealous that they have never been invited to a party.
Enjoy your life and don't miss out on experiences you will actually remember instead of another meaningless race. Unless you are going to be a pro, don't forget to actually live once in a while... I'm not saying get trashed all the time but don't be a teetotaler holier than thou type.
Your coach is in charge and decided your fate for those first 3 races. Just deal with it and move on. In a few years it won't mean crap anyway.
OP
The worst is yet to come. You are about to be housed in the JV races, and be completely humiliated.
Way off. We probably were just intelligent enough to not get caught and put on social media with it.

That would be awesome.
Agreed, this is a pretty good troll, no one parties for getting a high ACT score. I can’t believe it took until the 2nd page for anyone to figure it out. That’s about as good as it gets.
I would go 7/10 just because I immediately identified it as a troll after the first 2 sentences. But the fact that there were many serious responses without the OP egging on the conversation makes it pretty good.

in the long run you'll value the memories of partying with your friends more than 3 early season meets.
Also, by choosing to do whats in your best interest rather than mindlessly bowing to ridiculous and unjustified rules, you are on the path to enjoying life a lot more than the bitter legalists on this board.
I agree. So much finger wagging on this board by lame doofuses who wouldn't know a good time if it bit them in the a$$.
I would quit the team if he did that. This is part of the problem of students who need sports to get into college.
