Yearly shoe updates are so stupid. I don’t update my feet every year- I’m so tired of only reliably getting a pair of shoes I like for a few months before some company changes the design to keep charging exhorbitant prices.
Make me feel better or just pile on if you feel the same way.

I've learned that once a shoe is basically perfected, you'd better enjoy it. The next model won't be as good because they inevitably change for the sake of changing, even if there is nothing left to improve. For some reason our society has this attitude that you cannot stay the same, that you always have to be changing, despite how excellent you might currently be.
Think about it like this:
New shoe models are basically a tax on people who feel a need to impress others by having the latest and greatest. There is no need to spend more than $60-80 on whatever is on clearance from last year. I'm glad they release shoe updates very often, as it allows me to not have to wait as long to buy whatever is new now when it inevitably goes on sale.
it not just that they keep coming out with new models, they also change or drop the old ones. I put up with it only because I have no alternative.
My midfoot is very wide and I need to buy EE to feel like my shoes aren't squeezing the hell out of me or are too long. I'm lucky if the shoe gets to around $120 before they run out of stock in my size. The constant updates are killing me because I pretty much always have to buy the newest shoe to run comfortably.

Sorry, bud, but that’s not “our society”. It’s basic physics and biology. Spend the next 20 years trying not to maintain your current level of “excellence”, and see how it goes.
In retrospect I should have bought a lifetime supply of the Brooks T6 (or T5 or T7). Now it's gone and nobody makes a 11-12mm drop that close to the ground with a curved last. I'll have to make do with the NB1400 and Adidas Adios. The mistake Brooks made was to keep marketing it as a racer when shoes like the Nike Free were taking over the general market. It's a shame to see such a wonderful shoe get pulled from the market.
The Pegasus 30 was a perfect shoe. Then we had to deal with the idiotic 31 and 32 (thanks to Mo's "feedback" lol). The 33 was okay but not great but the 34 is pretty much perfect to me. Now they go and wreck it with the Pegasus 35 and *gulp* Turbo model. WTF.

Yup, Saucony is notorious for this with the Kinvara.
I'm happy to see Nike and Adidas introduce new colorways than revamp greatness.
I stumbled upon the Nike Downshifter a few years ago and wore the exact same model the next 2+ years (I've usually got limited options at department stores due to size 13 feet). Then they didn't have the same model the next time I checked but the new version was just as good, and I see no reason I'd ever want to change (they're relatively cheap too). I'll probably order a bunch soon in case it gets discontinued, and I don't run a lot now so each pair can last me 6-12 months (my first pair lasted over a year wearing every day haha).
This post took the words right out of my mouth. The Nike Vomero 12 was literally a dream show for me. Sure I know it would be considered too bulky and too heavy by many on here or too cushioned. But for me it could handle everything I threw at it from intervals on the roads to 20 mile long runs and never feel uncomfortable. I was sure the Vomero 13 would be equally comfy. BOY WAS I WRONG. I can still wear it, but they drastically cut down the upper and it is tight, uncomfortable and generally all around awful. Damn shame. Nike also ditched their "ask an expert" feature.

If you thought the 12 was good... man you should have tried the vomero 11. That shoe was amazing.
