I’ve known kids who struggled to run 2:08-2:09 but could somehow manage 15:50s for 5ks. Anyone over 2:10? 2:15?

Theoretically just need to be running about a 2:33.59 800, but have no drop off in speed beyond that point.
There’s probably a bunch of them if you include the 1600/3200 guys that run the 800 only once in an early season dual meet in bad weather.
technically, the fastest I've ever run 800m is about 2:14ish and I've run a track 5k in 15:20s.
probably was capable of 2:05 or so though, although obviously that's hard to guess, considering I never raced anything below 1500m before.
There are definitely people out there who couldn't break 2:10 but could break 16
I have a friend who has a 2:11 800 Pb. 15:25 5k Pb.

I'd rather see a person run a 15:50 5k and then run an 800 to see what their time would be then.
I've pb of 2:16 for 800 and 16:34 for 5k (training time trial without specific training). Also my 400 pb is only 62 sec. All pb's set after age 30.
The fastest half mile I ever ran was 2:28 but I almost never ran that distance. My best mile was 4:48 so I must have had at least a 2:24 in there. My 5,000 best was 15:33. But again, I'm sure I'd have gone faster at the half and the mile had I done them seriously.
The same year I ran 15:44 my best 800m was 2:13.
I had a guy with a PR of 2:09 high and 4:38 that managed to run 9:37 on the track and sub 16 (barely) on the track and 16:02 on the CA state meet course (which is kind of hilly).
I don't know if anyone much slower than 2:10 could do it. Maybe 2:12 for an absolute grinder......

Let me amend this....
I don't know if anyone at the high school level could do it. I'm sure there are adults who have had a decade to develop aerobically and never race anything less than 5k that could fit the bill.
An aerobically fit 208-209 makes 1600 for 5k likely imo.
Some of these slower times are 5k types who avoid the 800 so they never really see their true 800 fitness.
So you could probably get by on about 57 400 speed if you had to.
