I don't know of what any of those runners did or did not do, and don't know any of them personally.

The issue, however, is far beyond the drug predilection of any one runner or another, but that the drug tests themselves are not accurate and are biased.

Let's say, for example, that Brahim Boulami did not take any drugs but, obviously, is of the top calibur of runner. Thus it is very LIKELY that he would be at the extreme of the range, expecially as compared to the protocols which were done on recreational runners and non athletes.

Such tests should not be used to determine drug use in highly trained world class runners.

It is much more likely, considering for example that Boulami did not take any drug, that the result was a false positive, and which was out of the protocol range, it being set up based on those recreational runners and non athletes.

Another poing, my INTEREST with athletics is with training and performance, and not drugs. I don't like drugs and have no use and no time for them. The sooner we get the drugs, drug tests, drug czars, drug labs, drug promotions, belief in drugs, and contributions to drugs, then the sooner athletics will recover from that nonsense and be back where we wish it to be, i.e. for us and the rest of the runner athletes 'round the world.

dunes runner, it appears you've taken a few too many intoxicants yourself if that last post is an indication of your thought process.

No one ENJOYS drugs, probably not even those who use them.

However, your own habits border on..strike that, they ARE absurd. Defending Brahim Boulami and Olga Yegorova, who've both tested positive, based on nonsensical claims ("Oh, they're elite, so blood values might set off a false positive" Nope) and CONDEMNING innocent athletes like Paula Radcliffe.

Paula has offered her own blood and urine on many occasions to be frozen. Even Sammy Sosa did not do this (when confronted by Rick Reilly about his public anti-drug state). Paula got kicked out of a track meet for protesting Yegorova's drug-aided 5K win.

Give it a rest. IF you defend that sort of stuff, we must conclude you are stupid, malicious, or both, or you have some freak family connection to both Boulami and Yegorova and Paula's pet iguana killed your dog or some such riff raff.

Do you mean Anastasiya Kapachinskaya?

She was busted at the 2004 Hungary indoor championships for steroids and was serving a 2 year ban when she was handed the gold medal from the 2003 Paris outdoor world championships (Kelli White stripped for modafinil, Kapachinskaya was 2nd)

Russian sprinter Anastasiya Kapachinskaya was banned for two years after testing positive for a steroid at the indoor world championships, the Associated Press news agency reported on Tuesday. Kapachinskaya won the 200-meter gold medal at the championship in Hungary in March.

The athlete said Tuesday she will not appeal the ruling that will prevent her from competing in the Athens Olympics in August. She will cooperate with the World Anti-Doping Agency in the fight against performance-enhancing drugs.

Kapachinskaya, tested positive for the steroid stanozolol during the competition. A second test also came back positive.

“It’s an accident,” she said at a news conference. “I swear I did not take any banned substances, but I do not deny that they were tested in my samples. It was my negligence.”

Kapachinskaya said she might have ingested the steroid in a food supplement.

“I don’t want to accuse anyone,” she said. “It was my fault.”

The Russian Track and Field Federation disqualified Kapachinskaya on May 24 when she was unable to explain how the substance had appeared in her body. That is considered the first day of the two-year ban.

The 25-year-old sprinter said she plans to compete again when the ban ends.

All Russian athletes were tested by the national anti-doping laboratory before the championships and all tests were negative, said Valentin Balakhnichev, president of the Russian Track and Field Federation. The federation will continue investigating.

To prevent similar cases, new equipment will be installed in the lab to test all athletes of the Russian Olympic team before leaving for the Athens Games. In Greece, the equipment will be even more precise.
