Bizarre W3k leader stops at the 200m mark and does a sign of the cross could she really be that muddled?
-
From the Monaco recap:
"That said, 8:01.02 is still the second-fastest time ever by an American. There’s a reason no non-African-born runner has ever broken 8:00 — it’s hard."
That's unnecessary. Do better. -
Women’s 3000: Lilian Rengeruk wins; all three Americans set outdoor PRs
This non-Diamond League event, which was not televised in the U.S., went to Kenya’s Lilian Rengeruk, who prevailed in a close finish against former Florida State star Susan Krumins of the Netherlands, 8:41.51 to 8:41.83.
The third placer was American Katie Mackey, who shaved two seconds off her outdoor PR to run 8:44.47 (though she did run 8:43 indoors this winter). Similarly, American Lauren Paquette broke her outdoor PR to finish 9th in 8:48.65 (though she ran 8:47 this year indoors) while Dartmouth alum Dana Giordano set a big outright PR of 8:55.14 to finish 12th (previous pb 9:07).
Despite those PRs, the times probably could have been faster as the leader, Rengeruk, hit 1500 in 4:27.6 before picking it up and closing the second 1500 in 4:13.9.
Quick Take: Only two women ran faster than Beatrice Chepkoech did yesterday over barriers
Granted, this was not a Diamond League event, but there was still some quality in this field. The fact that only two of the 13 finishers in the race could better Chepkoech’s 8:44.32 from Monaco shows how absurd that mark is.

So....is Moline still unsponsored? I thought she was in a Nike kit at the finals at Nationals.

Women's 400 hurdles
The 400 hurdles was a battle between the two fastest hurdlers on the year not named Sydney McLaughlin who isn't running anymore this year. In the end, 2018 world #2 Shamier Little of the US got the narrowest of wins over 2018 world #3 Janieve Russell of Jamaica thanks to a well-time lean at the line. Coming off the final hurdle, Russell had a slight lean but Little got the win in 53.95 to Russell’s 53.96.
Olympic champ Dalilah Muhammad, the fourth fastest woman on the year was third (54.86) , and the fifth fastest woman on the year Georganne Moline was fourth (55.47) so the top 4 finished in the order of their seasonal bests. -
WAIT - Sam Kendricks hasn't used his poles in practice this season? So what is he using in practice?
Am I the only one who's noticed that a lot of the female throwers - especially in javelin and discus - are getting slimmer? -
This Heat B of the women's 100m is getting downright unprofessional.

Anyone else thinks that Candace Hill and Kaylin Whitney are examples of athletes who really should have done at least one year of college track before going professional? I think what those like Noah Lyles and Allyson Felix have done straight out of high school is INSANELY RARE.
BTW - NBC's promo commercials for Tokyo look WAY than anything they did for PyeongChang. Some of those PyeongChang were downright cringworthy. -

They might have benefitted from a year of college track, but who's to say they would have gotten any better? You never quite know when someone is running that fast that early. I don't begrudge them for going pro early and grabbing the money, as it may not have been there if they went to college and didn't improve. -
Unfortunately no Christian Coleman in the men's 100 in London -- he's a DNS. No reason given. That's a bummer, think he would have been in line for something fast today.

Using numbers to rate attractiveness is a system that has historically been used by males. Women don't typically rate a man's attractiveness according to a number scale. As a female letsrun fan who isn't easily offended, I was still puzzled by your analogy because it seemed written specifically for a male audience.

Hmm. I wonder how much faster Aikines-Aryeetey would be if he was a tad leaner and not so muscled up - especially in the chest. Or maybe it doesn't affect his sprinting much.
-
I'm not sure I've ever seen a burst of speed like that by Haroun for about 30 m in that 400m. That was crazy.
Anyone else?
Nice to see Kirani James back out there. 44.50 today. He's actually run 44.35 this year already.
Another PB for Dedewo. -
Filip Ingebrigsten in the 5000m today after a NR in the 1500m yesterday in Monaco.

He has a genetic mutation that causes excess muscle development. Not a joke. -
