Coaches who never were runners?

I dont think Duane Vandenbusche ever ran a step in his life. Maybe someone can correct me on that.

john babington who coached lynn jennings was never a runner. his legs are all contorted and strange looking.

Did Joe Vigil run at a high level?

Peter Tegen did not run. He was a triple jumper and a gymnast. (he was my college coach)

He also spoke 6 languages. He is a pretty brilliant guy and proof that you it is not neccessary to compete in an event to become an excellent coach in it.

Bill Bowerman was a quarter-miler, not a distance man. Does that count?

Sebastion Coe's coach Peter Coe never ran he was a cyclist and he did a decent job coaching

Joe Shay. He coached Ryan, Stephan, and the other Shay's to a bunch of state championships. Had some other good non-Shay runners too.

Babbington is a pretty quality age group runner even to this day. I don't know what running he did BEFORE Jennings but he definitely runs now.

It is my understanding that John Babington ran at Williams.

Just cause they are fat and diseased looking now doesn't mean that they weren't once runners.

I do know that Vandenbusche runs everyday now, don't know if he competed back in the day or not.

Jumbo ran @ Villanova. Quarter Miler & Captain/Coach of Golf team while there.

He wasn't a runner, but the jumps coach at LSU did not compete in college or so I was told.
