Does anyone know of any high school guys running 4:30 1600 or 9:45 3200 right now, or close to it?

No, but I am hoping my son gets close. Last summer (after 8th grade), in age group track, he ran a 4:29 1500. His training is going well this winter. 4:30 is probably out of reach, but I think he has a shot at 4:35 or so.
Look in CA, there are many runners that can run those times durring the off season.
"Everyone ran a 4:30 in High School." Once a runner.
NIC has a freshman only 1 mile:

Of course this is indoor (meet date this year is 3/15)
Last year the top 5 were:
1 See, Jeff Middletown, OH 4:22.62N
2 Bilodeau, Andy Tampa, FL 4:22.63N
3 Robbins, Derrick Newport News, VA 4:23.84N
4 Novack, Scott Hoover, AL 4:33.98
5 Tschirhart, Kevin Northport, NY 4:34.61
None of these guys (or any frosh) made Jack Shepard's outdoor list for 2002. Cutoff's for top 50 were 4:13 / 9:08.
there are hundreds of guys who can do that. i am well below both, and i doubt i will even be in the fast heat at states this weekend for the mile.
But are you a high school freshman?
Jeff See is the real deal. He ran great times as a high school freshman last year - he should greatly improve and should most likely be toward the top of the national heap as a senior or even sooner.
I heard Derrick Robbins was 17 or 18 as a freshman last year, so I don't put too much stock in his status as a fast freshman.
My High school Kenyan ran 3.44.1 for 1500 last year as a Soph at High elevation in Eldoret Kenya.
3.44.1 1500 convert to a 4.01 mile ,minus the 4% ALTITUDE convertion is a 3.55.
This year he is a junior at La Cueva High School in Albuquerque NM ,he should break Alan webb HS record of 3.53 next year as a senior or maybe this year as a junior.

Just as comparison, as a freshman at York high school in Elmhurst, IL, Don Sage ran 4.18 for the 1600 and 9.15 for the 3200. By the time he graduated high school he had run 4.00.29 for the mile and 8.41 for the 3200.
Jeff See is supposed to be the real thing. [quote]eddy wrote:
n8 are you sure you are well below? whats your pr 24? well below?
ps read the entire post jackass, you are not a freshman
Brad Siragusa from Chantilly High School in Virginia has nailed both of those times (almost exactly). Far as I know, he is 14/15 years old and is just the product of some hard work and, I believe, a swimming background.
Im a Freshmen in Carthage MO and at state last weekend i ran a 4:25 1600 and a 9:40 3200....the times are posted on mshsaa.org [quote]masterrunner wrote:

1:53/4:13/9:11 in THE SAME MEET as a frosh.
Looks no one else can make the claim as best frosh in the country, or best frosh ever for that matter, except this Taye kid.
And people say East Africans are not more naturally talented......HA!
,3200 —
1. Colby DelBene (Pawling) 9:50.1*- freshman, know it 4 a fact
2. Jason Brodsky (Edgemont) 9:51.3
3. Gerald McDonald (Byram Hills) 10:11.4
4. James Alexander (Pearl River) 10:12.7
5. Brian Kaufman (Edgemont) 10:19.6
6. Reid McBeath (Pawling) 10:21.1
Jeff See is a senior... He will be attending The Ohio State University next year. He is the real deal, ran a 406 mile as a sophomore, and set the national record for sophomores 2 years ago.
OK, I see what is going on....someone bumped a 2+ year old thread for some reason (looks like several old threads like that are popping up).
Anyway, Taye appears to be the next HS superstar.
Will be another Abdirizak Mohammed (2-time footlocker champ, then nothing after that...), or another Meb. Who knows......but he's damn good right now. Looks like he could run under 4:10 for the mile this year as a frosh.
