Lindy Remigino, the 1952 Olympic gold medalist in the 100-meters and the 4x100 relay, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 87. His son Mike said his dad was surrounded by his family at his home in Newington, CT, at the time of his passing.
The popular Manhattan College grad was present at NY's Armory last year when he was inducted into the National Hall of Fame.

Lindy was also a great ambassador for the sport. He remained engaged and passionate about T&F his entire life, and gave back not just in his coaching career, but also as a respected and influential member of the New York Athletic Club, to which he generously volunteered his time and his guidance even into 2018. He was knowledgeable, passionate, and friendly, even to a slowpoke distance geek like me.
And let's take this opportunity to clear up -- once and for all -- the question "Who really won that 1952 Olympic 100?"
Anyone who ever asked Lindy about the race learned that Lindy CLEARLY beat Herb McKenley, and that it wasn't even all that close....
He'll be missed. RIP.
