1) Be talented
2) Don't be not talented

Depends on what school you're looking at. A school in the SEC, Big West, ACC or Big10 is going to require about 1:51, 4:10, and 9:12 for those events if you want a scholarship. A smaller d1 school in the Sunbelt, CAA, Big Sky etc is probably a little slower. If you're talking about freshman times I would say based on the progression of a normal relatively talented high school guy who is planning to go d1, I suppose a sub 2 to 2:05 800 for FR yr is good. For the mile maybe a 4:35 ish and a 10:10 or less 3200. If the longer distances are your main events you should run XC too.
I am a current D1 runner. I ran 2:10, 4:33, 9:20 for 1500 and 3000. I know someone who ran a 25:29 5k and got down to 15:53 by senior year so improvement does happen. You just have to stick with it and train smart
Most college coaches are going to want to see your progression in high school--preferably freshman, sophomore, and junior seasons of XC and track to make a recruiting decision (invitation to walk-on with admissions help, partial/full scholarship). Unfortunately, race times prior to HS don't count as much because most kids bodies are still developing. Also, new runners make a lot of progress on their race times. So, you are better off focusing on staying healthy and training and racing well through two seasons each year of high school. Spring of junior year is the time to be researching colleges to apply to and talking to coaches about campus visits and being considered for recruiting.

False. There are plenty of elite runners who were mediocre as freshman (Pre ran 5:01). Likewise, the freshman national record holder in the 1600 (4:09) never ran any faster.

You're flat out wrong, and you're showing your youth and inexperience. At your age the gap between what you think you know and what you actually know is at its widest.
am i still safe if my sophomore times are trash?

Don't get your heart broken.
Don't date someone with BPD.
Don't let running consume your social life
Your freshman times only matter if they are D1 material because nobody knows how much you will improve. Girls move backward sometimes and some guys improve a minute in the 1600 throughout HS. So if you really want to guarantee that you will get D1 interest, you need to run 1:52-4:10-9:05. If you improve after that, even better. But don’t count out the 5 foot tall guy running 5 minutes as a freshman.
