I jog at a moderate pace 3-4 times a week and have been doing for 5 years. My jogs last about 25-40 minutes (between 2.5 and 4.5 miles)
What kind of workouts should I be hitting when I know im ready to break 10 minutes?
The workouts i do:
I do 3 mile tempo runs at 8 minute mile pace
6-8x800 @ 7:30 pace (with 1.5-2 minutes walking or jogging rest)
8 x 400m @ 95 seconds (with 50 seconds of slow jogging rest)
Long runs of up to 7-10 miles @ 10 minute mile pace
Yesterday I did 1 mile at 90-95% effort (6:55) then a 10 minute walk for rest and then 6 x 200 @ 6 minute mile pace uphill 4% incline (with 1:30 jog rest)
