After Rodgers ran the fastest time in the world in the 100 on Thursday, LRC's Jonathan Gault asked him what the key was to his fastest times in a number of years.
Rodgers then replied that the key is staying healthy and that everyone needs to remind people that in 2015 he went sub-10 19 times in the calendar year - an all-time record. Rodgers asked Gault if he knew that stat and Gault said no and then Rodgers quipped then "you don't do your research."
Nothing confrontational like Wejo and Gatlin a few years back but pretty funny nonetheless. Watch it for yourself.

If you are a sprint fan, we also interviewed Lyles today and Gault did a big feature on him earlier this week.

Mike Rodgers tells our own Jonathan Gault "you don't do your research"

Rogers only ran sub 10:00 16 times in 2015 (15 if you don't count wind aided) 9.86 seasons best that year.
Lucky Jonathan didn't know his stats, otherwise he would have had to call Rodgers out on the mistake. -

He also led off on three 4x1s that year though (and was a non-leadoff leg in three others) so maybe he was counting those? -
Ha. Even the athletes know Gault is a poor excuse for a “journalist”. Maybe Gault should stick to chasing down conspiracy theories on Facebook.
-
The journalists at letssprint.com would have gotten that right.

Actually, none of you or your crew typically do your research. You half @ss things.

It's a BS record that no one cares about except Rodgers. Wake us up when he wins something important. -

This is such a ridiculous stat to know about a mediocre non medal contending athlete( on the world stage.). Rodgers needs to relax and realize no one cares about his useless stat. Tell him to get better if he wants people to know or care. -

I never heard of this confrontation. Is there a video? -
Gault does some truly impressive work keeping us up to date on American born runners. Perhaps he was confused about Rodgers' accolades because he isn't white and Gault specializes specially on people who look like him.

I am kinda sick of everyone shitting on the people who run this site. Jonathan is a fantastic journalist who does an in depth analysis of every major championship or DL event. Wejo and Rojo also run this site and weigh in their opinions which get torn apart for no reason. Can we just appreciate what they do? There is really no one else that does this and I love reading this site everyday but I feel bad for them when half the visitors just criticize them. They don’t half ass anything, they travel around the [email protected] world to write stories about races. Next time you think about posting, don’t post.

Gault has the problem of doubling down when he makes a yuge mistake in his writing. Real journalist learn from their mistakes. -
Haha. How many times could Jason bolt go under 10 in a year? Likely at least once a week in the off season, then in season probably once a day ?

Jonathan Gault is the gem of letsrun. He keeps me coming back.

This is a crock. They half ass everything and barely travel anywhere. Half the time they ask site visitors to do work for them for free, or maybe for some token prize like a T-shirt. -

NERunner054 is definitely the worst poster on the site, which is really saying something here.
Also, Wejo/Rojo/Gault/etc do a great job, they deserve some serious credit for their work. Always much appreciated, despite what the trolls on the message boards will say. -

In Gault's defense, there are no journalists working for LetsRun.com. I mean, I have no idea what degrees were earned by any of the LRC contributors, but it's clear that none of them has any journalistic expertise. Heck, I'm a grad school dropout of the reputable Indiana University School of Journalism, and I could write circles around the LRC clowns. Credit where it's due, though: I do enjoy coming to their site for information, and I would never want to live the grind of interviewing athletes. -
Gault is an excellent journalist and a fine prose writer. Why is anyone supposed to know the three-year-old times of a second tier U.S. sprinter? All it proves anyway is that Rodgers raced a lot in 2015.
