I think it's safe to say that Kate Murphy is officially done running at a competitive level. From her instagram post yesterday, it seems that she is still unable to overcome her injury that has plagued her for over a year now. Apparently she hasnt had a consistent month of training since indoor season of her senior year. Sad to see all these high school phenoms end their careers early, but it seems to be the trend these past few years.
A HSers career is done? Really? Do they not realize this is part of being an athlete? No one's career ends in HS or college, unless they want it to end. Running is a lifetime sport with many many many ups and down. The body heals, however long that takes.
Yes their career normally ends after Hs or college. You are describing a lifestyle or hobby.
You clearly have no experience in this sport. An athlete can't heal from an injury if they aren't given time to heal. Hers was more than an injury if you actually read her post. It was surgery on both legs, and then immediately off to a D1 program. It's business as usual at the O. If you can't produce for them, you are encouraged to be off the roster. Plenty of highschool phenoms who didn't go thru the NCAA grind are running professionally. Smart girl - get healthy, get your degree first, then run. Don't be an ***hole, dude.
