He did not look good at all going over the barriers and then BOOM.
Ouch

Wow. I was super impressed with him and then BOOM.
Houston needed 10 points, he went out and ran like he was the top seed in the event.
Just when I thought he might hang on and win in a way that is not easy. He fell HARD on that hurdle.
Was he stuttering on the hurdles before that?
Where does this rank in terms of agony of defeat you've seen in a distance race? I haven't felt like that for a guy in a while. I think I'll change the thread title to ask that question.
Probably due to his going out in 8:20 pace...unfortunate to see, though.
How is it people can change subject lines? That was not the subject I wrote.

This might take the cake. His dreams, his team's dreams, Carl Lewis's dreams, all gone in an instant. You really hate to see it. So devastating.

i feel bad for him because magness drew up an awful gameplan. he should not have gone out that fast. too risky with a team championship at stake. even if he was ultra conservative and got 3rd, that's 6 big points. instead, magness sent him out too hard and he blows up and ZERO points for Houston
I am so sorry to say this, but that was the most embarrassing thing I’ve ever seen in the steeple.
Three second lead, stutter steps a hurdle and face plants...
Ridiculous.
Exhibited absolutely NO athletic ability, felt sorry for himself, and jogged walked it in...
Pathetic.
Oh and yes, I have run as fast as him, and CAN comment.
Pathetic exhibition of steeple.

I wasn't horrible plan. He ran conservative in the prelims and got outkicked by everyone and barely made it into finals. Doing that in finals wouldn't not have guaranteed 3rd or better at all.
Yeah, I feel bad for him. But he knew what he was doing going out too hard in the steeple. 8:20 pace was way too hard. In the steeplechase you have to save enough strength in your legs for that last water jump or else. He most likely would have fallen there and been caught anyway.

I could care less if you've run as fast as him but if you'r proud of your comment how about using your name?
He didn't jog it in. He could have had a concussion as hard as he fell. His teams chances likely went down the tubes. Dude absolutely went for it. Greatness doesn't always come from it, but I gained a ton of respect for the kid.
Would've looked like a genious if it worked, which it almost did.
That was brutal, I actually yelled when he went down.
Was really pulling for him to hang on, he was struggling with the hurdles but going up to that barrier I was thinking that as long as he stays up he is likely top 4 with some big points.
Can’t feel worse for him that’s a terrible way to lose it and a bad set of circumstances for the team.
I think Ali would have run him down in a more exciting finish, but it was sad to see.
The steeple is an unforgiving b**ch. Good for Barazza for going for it. There are many who have snacked on mondo during a steeple. He won't be the last.
I disagree with you Weldon
A steepler doesn’t do what he did, it really was embarrassing.
Get up and run.
And just didn’t.
And to satisfy you, tomorrow I will begin posting only as my own name.
I fell on the water jump at my conference final in college. I was cruising for a top 3 finish. I can’t remember where I finished
But I went on to get 3rd in the 800m

I doubt it was Magness' call. Carl Lewis and Leroy Burrell probably had a say in it, too. I'm sure they felt that Brian had to win or place very highly in order to get that team title. Florida has so many weapons that you can't just sit back and settle for 5th place.
And congrats on becoming the new biggest a**hole on LRC, It's Egun.
Completely agree with everything you said, Wejo.
Wejo, “it’s Egun “ has typically been an Oregon/NOP supporter, so you won’t find him to be a fan of Houston/Barraza.

Dude he was obviously hurt after the fall. He gave it everything he had and if you can't respect that then i dont know what to tell you. He's a good kid.
