what the hell is going on? is our talent pool getting bigger? is that like 5 9:20 ish or better freshman?
Yeah and that 9:11 guy's fastest 400 is 66........
yeah cause he closed in sub 60 today
Yeah, but i hear he can do 12 x 400 in 67 . . . . with only a 15 second rest interval.
You missed it. It was a joke based on the McDougal thread.
his mom told me it was a lap short
I heard (from a very credible source) they ran the full 8 laps, but that the track is short.
so, did this guy run 9:11 or what...
a track a lap short?? wtf? did this guy run a 9:11 full 3200m or what?
Yes, he ran 9:11, people are just making stupid comments.
No, actually we're making silly comments that are intended to lampoon the stupid comments regularly made on this site. But apparently the humor backfired. Oh well.
I have no doubt the kid actually ran the time given him and that it was done on an accurate track . . . though his time was probably wind aided.
The kid is legit. He ran a 60 second last lap. he was losing by 50 meters to Mike krisch (p.r 9:12) and just came back nasty. Made a very good runner look slow. Wow. Those two should have another good race at state, I doubt Krisch will let him sit on him the whole race till the last 200 again.
If he ran a 60 last lap — and i have no reason to disbelieve it — the kid's got much more than a 9:11 in him. Will be great to see these two tangle again at state. Let's hope it's good weather and they're both ready to roll.
Yes he did run 9:11 and yes he did close in 62 seconds. The track was not short and his coach is an Ex-Badger All-American 1500 meter runner named Nate Uselding. I'm sure Nate and the other Badger Alum will come through here soon and verify this as well.
Thats nothing, there are east africans his age running 20 seconds faster.
I was there, he looked superb. Totally calm and collected the entire way... more poise than any freshman I've ever seen, and the result proved it. Even when Krisch surged ahead at the mile, Fin stayed cool and slowly came back on him. Rob Finnerty has a great future ahead of him.
Also, he ran 9:23 as a completely unknown 8th grader last year.
What is the national freshman record for 3200? I think Finnerty has a few more seconds in him, based on the way he finished yesterday.
Freshman: # 9:04.4h 1973 Eric Hulst, Laguna Beach, CA
Sophomore: $ 8:50.6h 1974 Eric Hulst, Laguna Beach, CA
Junior: % 8:41.10 2000 Dathan Ritzenhein, Rockford MI
Senior: * 8:36.3h 5/6/1979 Jeff Nelson, Burbank, CA
Lots of good froshes now. S. Taye - 1:54, 4:13, 9:11 in one meet. Andrew Perkins has run 1:54 800, 4:16 1600, and 9:23 (indoor 3200). Charles White. Others as well.

No offense but that makes no sense at all....first you say he was losing by 50 meters....and then you say you doubt krisch will let him sit on him the whole race tilt he last 200? If he was losing by 50 meters he couldn't have been sitting on the whole race...or even much of it at all..that's a huge gap.
Also if he was losing by 50 metets and came back and detroyed him at the end.....i doubt krisch will have a choice again....the statement you should haev said was i doubt Krisch will have a 50 meter lead next time and finnery will beat him by even more most likely.
