Do you think there is any runner in history who could have held those last 2000m pace with Bekele? He took the air out of all them. They fell one after another. Only Kipchoge managed to hold the pace but had no kick left.

This thread is useless without splits.

Actually, I think Farah could have in his top shape (maybe 2015?). With 3:28 speed and 59:30 half endurance he would have probably outkicked him too.

I think it was sub 5 for 2k, therefore 60s.
Koemen
They went through the 3k in 8:00.xx. Right around what Hasty ran the other night.
4k in 10:32.xx
Bekele won in the OR of 12:57
Interestingly enough the 10k went through 3k in 8:09 and went through the 5k in 13:48. 8k in 21:53
Bekele won that one as well in 27:01

No he could not. Farah even in his top shape could never run a first 3000m in 8 minuets and then a 2000m in 4:57. Forget about it.

All smiles, baby.
Bekele always was the best. I enjoy watching this video. I literally watch it all the time. I can't wait to see him do this in the Olympics in 2020. He always was the best.

I literally love you
Ex-runner. I'm honored that you feel that way. Maybe we should meet. Do you want to go for coffee. I'd like to get to know you.

same...I think i watch this video once a week....such a display of dominance in this race
and to answer the OP, I don't think anyone could have beat him on this day
This race is an example of a true tactical race. Running good pace for the first 3k and then running suicide pace for the last 2k taking the air out of everybody. This is maybe the best example of a tactical race. Beautiful race. They just fell one after the other.
All those slowmo’s centro jogging throughout the whole race and then running a 400m dash are not tactical races, they are garbage races

Jakob would have held that pace and then sprint past him final 100 meters.
