I don't know if it is just me, but I can't see why this kid doesn't have a kick. Especially in a 5000m.
I was particularly impressed with:
Saturday 5/21/05
"Today I ran my first track workout since IC4A’s. I did 12 by 400m with a 90 second jog recovery. I ran the
workout on the Peru Highschool Track. It was about 50 degrees and windy. I ran 60, 59,59,59,
58,58,58,59, 59,59,60,59. Not too bad considering the conditions. I get 13 miles on the day."
Now, for a high-mileage guy like himself, putting in that kind of mile workout, it is hard to believe that he can't roll a 3:42, and thus, finish fast at the end of his 5ks. Maybe he has been rusty so far. But he definitely seems to have some wheels. In cross country, there was an article saying he did 16 of them at 60. These workouts are quite amazing.
