If he's found guilty and banned will he have to leave Kenya? I can't imagine the government wanting him hanging around the country where he sets such a bad example for the younsters.

It's pretty normal in Kenya.
Of course it's. With epo being just a hundred bucks in the backroom, we all know it's common practice in Kenya.
George213, it isn't even $100, it is €65 or $76 in Kenya (which makes the risk to reward ratio even more desirable). ?

problems he will run into
-why is he paying everytime, and on a friend level with the tester?
-why is the tester informing him days in advance?
-why is he saying he always pays, but then says he was bribed, then says he was paying cause its the culture to be generous...
The other problem that he will run into is the fact he had recombinant epo in his urine sample, there's no coming back from that one.

It doesn't matter how ridiculous the lie sounds for people who are able to think rationally, even at a fairly basic level. There are still going to be plenty of 'Kenianos' that slurp up the pathetic lies so they can keep believing the charade that is a clean sport and a clean East Africa.
I merely gave my opinion based on his demeanour in the interview and offered my opinion on a practice that is culturally acceptable in Kenya but unheard of in western countries. That's all. Let this sink in. Guilty or not, there will be no drop off in Kenyan performances or shortage of replacements. There will be plenty of more Kenyans for you to hate on for the next generation or, at least, McDonalds becomes a staple in Kenya.
What practice? Doping? That's the only practice Asbel has been proven to have taken part in.
This website is the only place bizzare enough to have people that convict innocent runners of doping and vindicate guilty ones.
The issue is that Asbel has not been proved guilty yet, and there are many people in Eldoret who support the genial, popular lanky runner, who in addition professes to being a God fearing Christian church goer, in addition to being a Kenyan policeman, meaning he would have way too much to lose.
Father Colm and Eliud Kipchoge fully support Asbel, in what will probably transpire to be a set up. Most of those who know Asbel fully support him too.
Asbel states he will be vindicated, so the judicial process should be respected.

Positive A test, positive B test. Case closed.
Well, he could still try the running through puddles, taking mom's vitamin shots, vanishing twin, having sex, needing supplements, eating beef or kissing someone excuse. That works with some NADOs. But I fear it may be too late for that.

The Athletics Integrity Unit, an independent body, has confirmed that Kiprop did test positive for EPO.
Following their investigation into the matter they are satisfied there was no mix up or tampering with the sample (the samples are in anti-tamper bottles which the athlete himself seals). This body helps to advise the IAAF on these issues.
He tested positive for EPO, A and B samples. Kiprop stating he will be vindicated really doesn't amount to anything of relevance. It's up to the IAAF to decide his punishment now.

LOL!
Abducted son, threatened to kill wife, impregnated a 16 year old, beat up a bar owner and told him he couldn't be prosecuted because he (Kiprop) is a policeman. Maybe these were all set ups too? Somebody certainly has it in for Kiprop.

I love Ghost.
I'd be really sad if he was a troll but I'm pretty certain he's not.
I quite enjoy the 'He believes in god so there's no way he could do anything wrong' attitude. Sounds great, lets release 90% of the American prison population, they all must be wrongful convictions.
christian's should not compete on the true sabbath ,
or at very least have higher morals .
no lying ,cheating , misdirection , taking drugs etc , the very obvious but not nowadays .
those that hide behind their religion which include brother colm , doper in chief , crypto -jesuit .
why wouldnt he support a cheat , have not alot of his athletes been them .
Ghost has never failed to support African dopers on this site. He always resorts to "nice devout boy!" as if he knew the individual personally and sits next to him in church/mosque. Quite a schtick he has been consistent with going on a decade now.
Between him, rekrunner and Canova, there will always be dope deniers/apologists hitting every thread concerning the issue. If that is not trolling, it comes close enough.

That's sad, but I don't want to hear again about scrawny runners lacking fighting skills.

You know, when they keep repeating that Asbel knocked up a 16-year-old allegedly ruining her life, they conveniently leave out that he was just 18 himself. Also, Kenyans are very different from Americans who all seem to have an innate ability to turn on the waterworks whenever a television camera is in proximity (honestly, is that part of your school curricula?), so there’s no way his getting watery-eyed is an act.

I agree.
He's crying because all his career his special 'Canova type friends' have told him that there is no way he is going to get caught.
He got caught. He's sad.

Completely insane posts on this website.
I fully understand posters like El K refuting the nonsense that all Kenyans are dopers etc. That is stupid idiocy bordering on racism and I 100% agree that the top Kenyan athletes are not all there because of doping. Most will be clean in my opinion.
However, denying that a man who has been caught doping was actually doping is insanity. I don't know how it's possible that trolls come on here and say 'Makhloufi/Farah/Amos etc are definitely doping' but when someone is actually caught doping the trolls come out and say 'xyz is actually clean'.
Kiprop got caught, the AIU said there is no foul play, the end.
The 'evidence' is slanted against Kiprop in this tragic case, but there were too many irregularities in the case to proclaim irrefutable guilt.
Some concerns.
1. Why did Asbel take EPO in the dead season, when first major competition was slated some 6 months away ?
2. Asbel fully cooperated with the testers, and could have 'disappeared' which he did not do.
There are some odd claims in Asbel's deposition, especially with regard to giving money for tea, and keeping a record of a remittance transaction on his cell phone. A lot of 'he said that, but he did this' producing a legal investigation quagmire.
As El K. alluded to, there are significant cultural differences between Kenya and developed western countries.
Those articles about Kiprop's misdemeanors make him sound like a villain, but one should take into account that wealthy Kenyan athletes are almost always targetted by others, and the resulting relationships often produce tragic outcomes, as was the case with Beijing Olympic champ, Wanjiru, who allegedly 'fell' to his death. El K. and everyone who knew Wanjiru know or strongly suspect that he was murdered.
Father Colm and Eliud Kipchoge, two good friends of the normally charismatic policeman, fully support him. They have a lot to lose, should the IAAF find him guilty.
Tragic case, and everyone in Eldoret and Iten is crying.
Let us wait for the revelations which Kiprop claims will show he was set up, in a plot worthy of Dante's inferno, Kenyan style.
There are only irregularities if you believe Kiprop's claims. Otherwise, all we have real evidence of is Kiprop providing a urine sample which was locked away in two anti tamper vessels, and both of those vessels testing positive for EPO.
Separately, we apparently have records of Kiprop sending money to two anti-doping officials. In my eyes, that amounts to no more than petty low level corruption. Perhaps some threats or maybe he paid them to try and make them go away after opening the door. Maybe he sent them money for their tea and lunch like he said, who cares? That has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that he tested positive for EPO.
If you could instead provide evidence that the testers said 'send us money or you will test positive, and then Kiprop refused and a positive test came about, perhaps I'd be more willing to listen. Otherwise, nothing has happened here other than Kiprop gave money to anti-doping guys, and also took EPO.
In my mind, if these anti-doping guys were fraudulently extorting money from athletes, then surely they would want to keep one of their richest athletes in business. Kiprop testing positive is a massive inconvenience to them if they used to go over every month and take some money along with his urine.
And please don't give us this 'you Westerners wouldn't understand' nonsense! It's insulting, and even more so to Kenyans, who are intelligent people no different to any others and fully understand that doping is against the rules and it's illegal to extort people.
Your Wanjiru comment is also totally irrelevant, everyone with a brain strongly suspects that Wanjiru was murdered, whether they live in Iten, London or New York. Guy's wife walked in on him with a lover and he ends up out the window. I really don't think that the ignorant Westerners believe it to be suicide but the Kenyans on the street know the truth. Nonsense.

Yes, Ghost1 isn't an unlikeable person but he has long defended the least believable performances out there. 3:26 smacks of bathtubs full of hot sauce, and again he was caught for 'Recombinant epo.' His story doesn't add up. Thanks to Fancy Bears it appears that the IAAF secretly knew he was doping for quite some time.
