I am currently 16 and I’ll be a junior in HS in the fall. I have never run competitively, but I have done sports for most of my childhood, except for the last two years. I got this desire to start running and I currently run 1600 meters in 10:00. Ik that’s crap, but I just started and just a month ago it took me 11:10 to run a mile. XC this year is probably out of the question, being that I am just not ready yet. I plan on running nearly everyday to build my endurance and eventually incorporate speed training into my daily routine. Being that indoor season starts in like 6 months, what are my chances of trimming my 1600 time to 5:10ish? Is that even possible? Also, because I got into the game late, does that mean me running at a D1 school, say Indiana, is out of the question even if I have a really great jr and sr Track season? Any advice?
