Loved the quote. "I'm here, and I'm here to dominate."
Damn fast.
My absolute favourite athlete at the moment. 5 diamond leagues 5 wins? Totally going to dominate the 200m. Bolt will be glad he retired watching this kid.
He will move into 3rd all time this year.

In case you didn't follow him in high school, he made 4 U.S. teams, including the 2014 Youth Olympics where he won in a then-PR 20.72, if memory serves. He's now more than a second faster. Great progression the past six seasons, really.
Also, here's a really nice, in-depth story about him from earlier this week:

Great race but unless he gets another +2 tailwind I think this will be his 2018 season best

If he was a collegiate athlete I'd agree with you, but his season is just starting.
10th all time! Amazing!
Munyai, who is one year younger than Lyles, also ran 19.69 this year, but with a 0.5 wind in his face (instead of a 2.0 in his back)...
Isn't that a bit better?
You're damn right it is. But I suspect that people don't view it as legit. The guy hasn't ran at all since then and he just doesn't look like he ran that time.

Pretoria sits at about ten times the elevation of Eugene. Balancing out tailwind and altitude, Lyles' 19.69 is slightly better.

You do realize that will take 19,31?
Bolt 19.19
Blake 19.26
Johnson 19.32
Who's fourth? Tyson Gay 19.54?
How does that rank him all time on American lists if you take out the numerous dopers?
Wonder what scepticism his performances would get if he was from a different country but with a sprint doping record as bad as USA?

Already corrected myself. 4th is 19.53 Dix.
And Munyai is good but altitude helps a lot. I do want to see them race however.
The interesting thing is USADA doesn't seem to know the guy's name?

According to
http://jmureika.lmu.build/track/wind/200altwind.htmlLyles run is worth 19.83, and Munyai's is worth 19.78
I still find Lyles more impressive, since it was done on the circuit, were as we have seen south africa sprinters run fast at their championship before and then not back it up.
Wow that is incredible. This guy is a new Usain Bolt in the making. And unlike Bolt who tended to only chase WRs in championship races, and therefore probably left a lot on the table when it comes to what he could have possibly done in the 200, Lyles seems like someone who will be doing his best to keep pushing his 200m time down. I think for that reason he has a good shot at Bolt's WR.

I got 19.79 for Munyai using that tool.
The difference of 0.04 is too small to say who's run was 'better', but I'll take Lyles over Munyai any day.
The way he destroyed a good field, nobody else broke 20, just shows he's a class above.

Yup!
This was teh race of the day!
The guy is only 20.
We haven't seen what he could do at his best.
I loved the way he gobbled up Makwala before he hobbled out of the track.
