How do you TRAIN mental toughness in HS runners? While discussing your ideas is interesting, I'm most interested in successful examples. Thanks.

I found at that age that watching stuff like Rocky got me going. Hope > Mental Toughness. Just be like "you can be the best but you gotta want it!" and stuff
By doing your main run of the day when it is the hottest. Doing runs over hard hills. And, by telling yourself that you are mentally tough.
to get mental toughness you gotta do things that are tough.
I make it a point to do things that average people wouldn't want to.. people complaining about the thunderstorm outside? sounds like a good day for a 10 mile fartlek in the rain. Cold as crap outside and 5 feet of snow and still snowing outside and everyone is sippin hot their cappacinos at the gym or from their living room? PERFECT time for some intervals outdoors.
basically, just don't be a pansy.
Let me be more clear than I was. As a coach, how do I train my athletes to be mentally tough during the track season?

Option 2: Put your athletes on, what this cyclist was on.
