Meet is Thursday night. With 2018 being a non World Championships/Olympic year (and with the 2018 adidas Boost Boston Games also being this weekend), the fields are a little thinner than in years past but there's still some talent on hand.
What are you most looking forward to?
Update: Meet over and our recap is here: http://www.letsrun.com/news/2018/05/matt-centrowitz-wins-1500-gregorek-berian-struggles-ceaira-brown-keeps-rolling-2018-usatf-distance-recap/
PS. For years, we've said when you watch meets like Oxy you are basically watching practice. This year's meet proves it as Olympic champ Matthew Centrowitz is in the C heat of the 1500 (doubling back from the 800).

Calling this a watered down meet is generous.
-
Really looking forward to Boris. Is this his first race this year?
-
First day in FOREVER I could be at a meet in this area, and I'm basically driving right past it rather than stopping. Slight interest in Boris, but still.

Wow, you're quite the track fan. -
Sure it’s an off year, but I still like the concept of the meet. Not over-hyped. Just come and run and see where you are. It doesn’t have to be anything else. Thanks for the preview rojo. I have Gold so I’ll be watching.

yeah, all you guys are slow noobs. if you aren't excited to see merber, centro, engels, jock, boris, mead, gregorek, alexander - what do you get excited for?
-
From USATF's press release:
"Centrowitz, the first American to win a 1500m Olympic gold medal since 1908, is currently slated to run both the 800m and 1500m. In the quarter-mile race, Boris Berian, a 2016 Olympian and 2017 World Indoor Champion, will toe the line with Rio Olympian Charles Jock and 2018 IAAF World Indoors team member Craig Engles. "
In the quarter-mile race? Oh, you mean the 800-meters.
I want my money back..... -

.......Amen! -
Coverage/Races should be starting, who else is excited? I always wanted to make it to this meet in person but never got a change before I moved to the east coast. Oxy is a great stadium to watch races at IMO.
-
Anyone have a stream...?
-
Am also excited, but no way for me to access on line. Seriously thinking of a Runnerspace plus account as I live in C America where NBC (NBCSN, NBC Gold pkg...) has no presence. Please give me some kind of blow by blow.

Only 5 women in the first heat of the women's 800. One of them is the russian woman who was the whistleblower in the massive doping case.
-
60.45 for the rabbit. Myers in first once the rabbit is off. Propp takes over the lead with 150 to go and closes well (2:04.16 for a PR). Stepanova(sp) gets 2nd.
-
So they are doing Sections in reverse numbered order (slowest to fastest). Sec 3, 2, and then 1. Makes sense. Weather report?
-
60.8 split for Sharp leading heat 2. Butterworth takes over on the back stretch and pulls away from everyone in the final 100. 2:02.20. 2:03.71 for Manley in second. Sharp third.
-
You would expect Lynsey to be in Section 1
-
Looks beautiful and clear. Missed the heat if they said it. Google says it's 68 in Eagle Rock right now.
-
Announcer said she asked to be in heat 2.
-
Fast heat. Martinez right behind rabbit and pushing her at 400 in 58 mid. Brenda leads with Brown and Green right behind her until 150 to go when Brown (2:00.38) takes over and Green (2:01.4x)passes her too. Brenda holds on to third but faded pretty bad.
