High School 3200m Nationals

Season is not over yet there is still time for the list to change. I am sure the California state meet will change that list a bit and other kids will run faster before nationals. But as of right now Dustin Horter he has great endurance and 800 speed.

Gatewood will win, although his time of 8:55 doesn't put him at the top, he ran his lap 400 in 59 seconds, surely he can go much faster.

Gate would will not win 59 is alright for the last lap I have seen high school kids close in 55 on their last lap to run sub 9. Dustin Horter probably could close that fast as he has run 1:50 this year and 8:48.

Justin Hazell ran 8:54 last year, just hasn’t shown much this year besides 9 flat at mt.sac relays. He said in his interview Coach Riechl has been waiting till later in the season to start the hard training. Training to peak post season unlike most other kids I think he will be up there at Brooks and New Balance Nationals. He’s also run 14:29 at the oxy invite just recently

whould be nice to see Cole Sprout in there.

Horter is having an incredible year, but I had the feeling he may focus on the mile more. Thought he would do the 1600/800 double at State, but he's actually doing the 1600/3200, so maybe I was wrong.

with season bests of 1:59/4:18 I don't think we need to worry about him

Justin Hazell is a good runner but does not have the finishing speed to contend his 1600 and 800 are mediocre compared to the best. I will put my money on a fast 800 runner that can run the 3200 every time because the 3200 is a short enough event which speed wins especially in championship races.

Winders closed his 8:52 in 60 flat and was closing hard on Horter. Should be a great race!
