I've been running in a pair of Saucony Jazz Low Pro's since regular running shoes were giving me lower back pain. I find they're much better overall and I don't seeing myself going back to traditional running shoes. Although Saucony used to make them as running shoes, they are now marketed as a casual shoe to be worn away from running. Does anyone else run in shoes like these?
Yup. A lot of middle schoolers. High top J’s mostly.
I ran in Crocs for a few years, and didn't have any issue. The only reason I don't run in them now is because they don't work with insoles I prefer to use, and the ones I liked don't work very well on dirt, which is where I run almost exclusively.
Back in when minimalism was huge on these boards (way before Born to Run), lots of guys were training in the Onitsuka-branded throwback trainers. Very similar to the Jazz. Also the Puma H Street was popular (basically a track spike upper with a very thin sheet of EVA and rubber in place of a spike plate).

I git round jess fine in my Dr. Scholls walking shoes. Broke 75 in the 400 in 'em. Under $20 at Walmart. And chicks dig 'em.
I heard Eliud Kipchoge set his marathon world record in a pair of Nike Jordan's.
I used the adidas marathon 80 (back in the days the best racing flats on the planet) not so long ago marketed as a casual shoe until I used the recently released Nike React Vapor street. I ended up buying 4 pairs and won’t bother to wear anything else. I even like them more than the vaporfly 4% which I’ve used only twice.

I used Puma H Street for a while. Lots of runners have used them before, but I don't think they were designed specifically for distance running.
