Interesting result ... and an odd race. Looks like he was just cruising then tried to turn it on the last 100, but by then Koech had too much of a lead. When I saw the time (1:48.79) I expected to see a huge negative split, but doesn't look like it. Looks like 54, maybe 54.5 at the bell, so at most a slight negative split.
Saruni was also 2nd in the 1500 (3:49.73 to 3:50.09), again to his teammate Koech.
I thought of Saruni as a 400/800 guy, so maybe he was tired coming back from the 1500. Doesn't look like he was trying too hard in this race, so not sure how much to read into it.
