Chmiel in 2nd 40 seconds behind.
Chmiel in 2nd 40 seconds behind.
First 200 - 33 seconds
First 400 - 70
1600 - 4:45
If she would pace herself just a little bit, I could see her running 9:40. But it's obviously working for her. Very impressive race with little competition for her. I was hoping Kelsey would have a good day and push her.
Saratoga's jr high girls ??♂️
Great performances. Go Empire State.
According to letsrun she peaked like 6 months ago I thought

Exactly.
15:37 = 9:43 3200, so not a total shock.
OTOH she ran 4:43 for 1600 a few weeks ago and split 4:45 on this ?!
All I can add is the she is tracking to an incredible marathon if she keeps it going another 7-8 years.
How many sub-10:00 3200m HS girls have run professionally to at least the age of 24. Those whose hair resembled Rapunzel don't count.
I don't know the history of Track well enough to judge the post-collegiate success of those listed here, but sub-10 for a female in high school seems to correlate well with being done running within a few years of their high school 3200 PR.

Tuohy seems on another level talent wise than these girls. She could go far.
emily sisson ran an unofficial 9:50 while still in high school as well, currently having a great pro career.
Chmiel ran 9:59+ here last year in winning without Tuohy in the race.

Pretty much the only one of the girls on that list to have a decent pro career is Jordan Hasay.
Can’t even read 15 seconds of this string without those aggravating pop up video ads!

Those of us old enough to appreciate Melody Fairchild's career might disagree with that.
