My heart is in my stomach on how shocked I am. Running shoes are the hardest thing about running to me, and finding the right shoe is difficult. Also, when a runner does find the correct running shoe, most of the time it gets discontinued, and the runner is back to square one.
A particular running shoe store has flagged my account, stating that I abused their running shoe policy. Their policy is that a runner can return a running shoe within 30 days regardless of what shape it is in. Over the span of 2 to 3 years I have returned 5 pair of shoes at the store, and I returned them in BRAND NEW CONDITION, and I returned them because they caused discomfort in my knee or back.
When I get a running shoe I run in it for 10 miles on the treadmill, and if there is any kind of major discomfort, then they go back. As runners, we wear shoes for for performance, not for style or luxury.
I have never ever returned a worn out running shoe ,or a shoe that I put more than 10 miles in.
Has anyone every dealt with this? This is a first for me.
Btw, I'm African American, and I'm really trying stay away from the race card with this......but it is hard.
Note: I know we all talk crap to one another about running and racing, but this one is on the serious side.
peace.
