Hello...i use stryd for some weeks now in outdoor and indoor running...it's AMAZING and very precise in outdoor running but completely imprecise in treadmill....when measured in a 400m track it's so accurate that impressed me ! at the track lines, garmin (735xt i have), beeps exactly 400m (pace and distance from stryd with gps disabled) . Gps is adding meters so 400m track seems as 410m in garmins gps...so gps pace is usually faster than real (5''-7'' per min/km)
BUT for treadmill, stryd, is completely off. Need another calibrating factor. i have my own pro treadmill and i have measured it and calibrated my self...i know its speed belt exactly...Stryd is wrong and looses too much....for example in treadmill speed 15km/h (pace 4:00 m/km) , stryd gives me pace 4.30!!!...
I also noticed that when i run outdoors my power for example of 301 watts is for a pace 3:51 m/km and in treadmill same watts (301) gives me stryd pace 4.05....So it is imprecise in treadmill...also cadence is wrong from stryd ... i use metronome to run in 180 spm and stryd gives me 175!!...So i suppose it calculates perfectly the movement outdoors but the algorithm used internally is not for treadmill...stryd constructor say for this problem:" treadmill speed is belt speed and not runner's speed..trust stryd!!!" but they are wrong...If i need many more watts to run to the same speed in treadmill means this is a harder run and makes me exhausted. I expect to add another algorithm in the future to stryd for treadmills in base of Watts and not in pace!
But anyway stryd is awesome for all outdoor activities, much more precise from gps, helps with real power running control to a race (not hitting the wall) and helps to faster improvement.. I am a big fun ! I run 6 years now, i run 100km/week and i am so happy with stryd...but better use garmin footpod in treadmill with a low calibrating factor (i use garmin footpod at 94.6% and that is perfectly coincides with treadmill speed!
Have fun in your runs!
Dimitrios!
