I used to race in the Adidas Rats Racer, which has been discontinued. Does anyone know if the Response Comp Racer is comparable? I need a cushioned, lightweight racer. Thanks.

I still have a few pairs of the rats racer, but they are well worn. Too bad they nixed it. Probably to make more room for some 20 oz. shoe for the gallowalkers. If you don't think this craze is having a detrimental effect on the sport just go out and try to find a decent racing shoe anymore. They are all being replaced by heavyweight shoes for fat joggers.
The Nike Store in of all places Eugene does not carry any racing flats or spikes! Hard to believe but true.

Lisa, have you tried the Nefetenga? I thought those were pretty close to the rats racer.
I have noticed that it's getting harder and harder to find not only racing flats but lightweight trainers too. I live close to a shoe store called "On the Run". They don't have a single shoe that's under 12 ounces!
I have a few rats racers. what size? Response comp No.
may be able to get you a pair what size?
Well I maybe able to get you some Adidas Response Comp RCs. Talk to me. Also Nike streak, green, @ $65?
thanks for the suggestions. sadly, eastbay does not have a 7.5, which is what i need. if there's anyone out there who can help, thanks! i REALLY LOVE this shoe. it's so frustrating that it's gone.
The Response Comps are roughly the same weight but not quite the same shoe. They are a bit narrower, especially in the heel and much more flexible in the midfoot and forefoot than the Rats Racers
I would say they are comparable, but different enough that I wouldn't immediately associate them. Still, they're certainly the closest thing you'll find to the Rats Racers in the current Adidas line of flats, IMHO.
Someone else mentioned the Neftengas. These shoes are absolutely nothing like the Rats Racers. I got a pair of the Neftengas and think they're much better, frankly, but sadly cannot find them anymore in my size. Eastbay sold me a pair of Men's size 10.5 and then they disappeared from their website the next day (guess I got the last pair)
