It depend on what you hated about the 7.
The Riders have been about the same (to me) for several years now, and this one continues the trend. If you're looking for a night and day difference in them, you probably are not going to find it.
It depends on your landing. If you land on the outside of your heel, closer to the arch, then you will not get very many miles out of the 8's as opposed to the 7's. Personnally, I do not like the "paw'd" heels for a heel lander.
I switched to Saucony Grid Fastwitch Endurance and will never go back to Mizuno. Waverider is good; I ran in them for years, but the Fastwitch is out of this world. It even helped me improve my form. I was a bad heel dragger but in three months am now landing on the balls of my foot with no jamming. Hence, I am getting very good mileage out of what would appear to be a very delicate shoe. I am confident I will go more than 1000 miles on my next pair.
The 8s are not as snug around the midfoot and are much spongier in the heel. I preferred the 7s.
Actually, I thought the 7's felt bulkier and a bit more spongy than any of the pervious versions, all the way back to the year 2001.
The Saucony Fastwictch seems to be a bird of a much different feather. Would I feel a radical difference with the Fastwitch?
If you're looking for something along the same lines, but a bit "less", you might want to look at the Wave Precision. I have also worn those for years for faster paced stuff, and swear that they are a great Marathon shoe.
I loved the Rider 7s- the 8s just don't fit me as well. I think its because they dropped the midfoot support out a bit on the 8s. They feel a little lighter, maybe even a little bit better, but less supportive.
the 8's are 1 better.
7s were better
I prefered the 8s. It definitely seems to depend on the person.

Why is 6 scared of 7? Because 7 ate 9.
