Or simply the greatest athlete? Think about it. The world is 99.99% off road. This is Killian terrain!! So basically, he can leave everyone else on the planet in the dust other than when doing an all out non-stop run on a road...which he hates.

His Hardrock 100 records are amazing. What was it, 23 hours? Crazy to finish that much of that type of terrain in that amount of time.
No, Jornet is not. And he also has that pesky matter of him claiming to have summited Everest twice in record times that never happened and which he had made numerous contradictions.
Ill give him a vote. Mad respect. Ive done the 7 sisters in MA and almost didnt finish. Thats like 1/10th of some the races he does. Glad to go back to running on the roads after that and run my measy 36-38 minute 10ks
He's pretty good, but I won't be convinced until he completes a solo ascent of Everest without shoes.

He is the best at what he does, severe mountain running and mountain speed climbing now that Ueli Steck is no longer with us.

Dunno about that. People talk about Jornet but if you follow mountain running there's a guy called Francois D'Haene.
He won the UTMB 3x and beat Jornet there last year...has the UTMB record as well.
This by a guy who is 6'4" or 6'5"!! Don't know how he does it.
Mike Foote from the US is close

It must be something in his wine from his own vineyard... LOL
Since he currently is wearing a cast on his leg......no.
It's amazing how the trailrunners are so ignorant and in their own little world to think that Kilian Jornet is the "greatest in the world". Hardly anyone does that s***. Get your head out of your arse.
As long as "Running Man" Dean Karnazes draws breath and locomotes bipedally, he will be the world's greatest runner
Anton Krupicka is n.1

hahahaha. Poor butthurt one. Did you try a trail run and fail miserably little baby? More people know about Jornet than they do about Kipchoge. Africans would eat it for lunch? the fact is they have tried and failed miseraby as well which is why they won't attempt. In Boston, the Africans were exposed. They can't run besides during ideal weather and further they can only run on groomed terrain. If someone like Kipchoge actually dedicated a year for trail running I would shocked if he even finished the Hardrock 100 let alone end up in the top 100.
You are wrong. East Africans are doing mountain races and dominating them. The world championships have been dominated primarily by Uganda and Eritrean with exception of America's Joe Gray who has won and been up front a few times. Kilian would get crushed at these championships, not even top 10. I would say Gray is more all around than Kilian and also Max King. Kilian is only trail guy and rugged trail, not even short trail events. Whereas Gray and King have crossed into elite level for track and cross country along with trails
They are absolutely not doing mountain races. They are doing very short races on dirt roads and single track trail that are designed for speed that happen to be near mountains. By the way, the only African that managed to do well in that was Mamu and he was busted for doping. Bye Bye

There are few athletes we could call runners who have a more diverse skillset then Kilian, especially when we are talking about other ultra/mountain runners. No one else has come close to the breadth and depth of Kilians accomplishments.
And it is my impression that the world championships you mention are far from the premier event on the trails.
You are sorely misinformed. I've spectated at 3 world championships personally and ran parts of the courses. You need to check results bud, almost every year Africans dominate the world's for mountain running. Tough courses but yes short compared to 100 miles. However the short races are far more competitive drawing in rich talent with guys who compete professionally in marathon and track crossing over to shorter mountain races. When money shoes up in ultras they will dominate there too just watch.

This is what I'm talking about. Kilian is in a VERY small pond. Who gives a hoot whether people know who someone is or not. Social media has ruined sports and deluded people like you into thinking someone is greater than they are. The Africans couldn't be bothered with social media. They put in the work and get the job done, period.

Where do you think he would finish in the World XC Champs?
