Galen just has no class. None. He waits over 72 hours to release a phony statement. What a loser.
Nike gets really paltry mileage out of Rupp. I think his biggest issue is his mental weakness.
Is this the first Galen Rupp quote ever to be quoted? As in... I have followed his career since high school, including all interviews, and I can't remember a single Rupp quote. The guy is a verbal/intellectual teflon phantom. Nothing sticks, negative or positive. It's like only the numbers were posted, nothing else to back them up.
The "Anti-Pre".
Maybe Bob Kennedy had a similarly unquotable career. A few others I can't quite recall....

Idiot. It sounded phony and it came 72 hours too late. What the hell is wrong with Galen? If he were a teenager I could understand, but seriously, Galen cannot deal with it when things do not go his way. He is exceedingly immature. Sone if this is no doubt due to the fact that he, like Lance, cheated to succeed and they both have such poor character.

He gave basically a boilerplate release. Somebody described it as "teflon." I think that is pretty fair. It's not like people are on here condemning him.
And 72 hours isn't what I would consider timely. Timely would be the next day after you have recovered and have had a night to sleep on it.
People are quick to give him a hard time about these things because he has a history of refusing to talk to media. In the case of this thread though, you have multiple threads calling him out essentially for being boring. Not exactly coming down hard on him.

On the bright side though, do you think he really cares what a few anonymous runner wannabes say on a fringe website’s message board?
Runners are typically boring people and maybe he isn't on social media all the time big whoop.
I only care what he does in a race not his off time.

Absolutely. They hate that he is successful. He had a bad day- and I have asthma I understand what he's going through.
He's an olympic medalist but he's still not good enough for some of these guys.

+1000. I am FAR from a Rupp fanboy but wow..his detractors are so blinded by their hatred of him I honestly think some of them need therapy. There is nothing whatsoever wrong with this statement; the problem is there is quite literally nothing he could have said that would make any difference to the pathetic losers so obsessed with hating him.
And to the guy who said he is 'mentally weak'? This is a runner who has run a 26:44 10000 meters and has two Olympic medals; you don't get remotely close to that by being mentally weak and if you'd pull your pants up from around your ankles, step away from the computer and come up from your moms basement you might begin to understand that.

he's getting a little too complacement about treadmill running.

That’s definitely a finely worded corporate statement. In the era of nba and nfl players having twitter and Instagram accounts (and post my era of running blogs) this type of message is robotic. Send us a video statement back home with your dogs or something, tell everyone you’re ok and looking forward to the next thing. Nike would spend half a salary to have an intern folllow him around and blog.
There has always been this secrecy/shyness around him that never gets him to another level of popularity. I am guessing the secrecy is Alberto and shyness is him.... just tough in a day where athletes can be celebrities and activists.

I commented on the Instagram photo saying that he should have at least mentioned Desi's name given the historic nature of her run, and immediately had my comment deleted and was blocked :(

The statement is okay, but it's not timely. My main problem is I don't know whether to believe he wrote it himself.
