Rodger Dodger coaches 14 yr old Dathan Ritz lookalike to win Boston Marathon?
Check out this trailer? Is this based on a true story?
Yes, it was based on true story just like the Bad News Bears, Rocky, Karate Kid, Mighty Ducks, and White Shadow were based on true stories.
stand on rock and balance...
HAHAHA GET IT!
I saw a few months ago and enjoyed it. Its a funny coming of age tale with some good training scenes.
Better than rodger dodger for sure. check it out.
Must you be catholic to enjoy this movie?

I saw it. Movie definately wasn't as good as it could have been. Most european things are that way.

Maybe the SC school system is a little lacking since most people in the world are aware that Canada (home of writer/director 2:19 'thoner Mike McGowan) is NOT in Europe but rather North America.
Is this movie coming to a theater near me? Our is it only going to play in select cities? I know it started in Canada and moved tos some of the major united states cities but is it going to play everywhere or do I have to drive to NYC or LA if I want to watch it?
this movie was really bad. Just cause there is running in it is not worth endorsing.
I thought the film wasn't that bad, although the running scenes/training regimens are a little off kilter.

Wax on, wacks off.
it has the typical chariots of fire moment at the end, but for any real runners, the training sequences are totally laughable. in 6 months, the kid goes from being a 14 year old non-runner who smokes to doing something ungodly like 20 mile repeats (all sub 5 on grass.... yes... in trainers, like rexing) in the "training for the big race" montage.
it's not an awful movie... just totally unrealistic. kind of a dead poets society meets chariots.... but not nearly as good as either.
Its not an awful at all. Its pretty good. Yeah the premise is unbelievable but that what makes the movie. The kid was very likeable and you wanted to root for him. Not as good as Chariots of Fire but at least as good as Dead Poets Society.
Its less of a strict running movie however, which means the story of a 14 year old kid trying to win the Boston Marathon to create a miracle to get his mother out of a coma will appeal to a lot more people than one of a cocky playboy who comes in 4th in the Olympics and kills himself in a drunk driving crash.
The 20 times a mile scene was a major flaw however. That mile loop he runs on had a big portion where he had to run up a ton of stairs, and he hits 4:25 on his last one? That whole scene was unnecessary and didn't add to the movie. Instead they could have spent a lot more time on the Boston Marthon race drawing it out more so you could see the race develop.
Its a very good movie for the most part. If you like off-beat, nonmainstream films you will appreciate it. If your a running geek that is fixated on accuracy and never tend to rent any DVD at Blockbuster where there isn't at least 30 copies on half a wall, you might not appreciate it.

You aren't kidding. Not just bad, but I'm worse off for seeing it.
can you rent it, I cannot find it anywhere?
I rented it out my local place.
I reconsidered my criticism about the unbelievable workout. Yeah I doubt if Paul Tergat could even do that 20 times mile woorkout in this splits and finish at 4:25, especially on the loop the kid was running. I think that scene was supposed to depict that the kid was gettin a little help from above. I suppose it was obvious when he started running above ground.
Also he and his coach were bone dry the entire time despite the fact they were runnning in a torrential downpoar.

I rented it from Blockbuster, in the New Releases section along the wall.
The running inaccuracies weren't why I hated it. It was just a bad movie.
The ass in the shower scene was spectacular though.
