Hi everyone,
I am looking for some track spikes for this upcoming track season. I have managed to find the Nike Victory 3s and Matumbo 3s for a decent price so I’m not concerned about cost.
I usually run 1500m and a few 3000m’s and 800m’s, and this season I’m planning to run some 1500m steeplechase races as well. Which spike would be better for these distances?

Honestly it comes down to personal preference, both are excellent options, but I would go with the Victory 3s given your range of events.
Some people can get away with wearing Victorys all the way up to 10k (Rupp has done this on occasion), while others have worn Matumbos as low as 1500 (German Fernandez comes immediately to mind). Both would work perfectly fine for the steeple.

Victory 3s under 5000m. They are very comfortable, and cushioning doesn't matter much in a 4-9 minute race.

The Victory will tear apart if you use it for the steeplechase. 3,000m-5,000m only if you are really, Kenyan strong, in the ankles.
yeah, gotta say, all my teammates that have tried using vics for the steeple just put their big toe through the front on the first or 2nd water jump. I'd try to find some mamba 2s, or try some mamba 3s.
