Part of bound retainer behind bottom row of teeth came off

Something similar happened to my fixed retainer. It was a cheap/quick fix by the orthodontist. Just had to put more glue on there. I would get it fixed soon. The longer you wait the more likely it will get damaged further.

Same thing happened to me but i waited too long to get it fixed. my one tooth moved a lot. ended up having to get the bottom braces back on so you should get the retainer back in there as soon as you can

A retainer is generally a piece of stainless steel wire glued in with acrylic. The material cost is actually about 5 dollars. Sounds like the acrylic wasn't properly mixed.

Your orthodontist will probably just re-glue it but will need to remove it first.

My gf had her pop out on one side and I just popped the other side off. The dentist decided that it didn't need to go back in as the teeth had set in position and were unlikely to shift.

How old are you and how long has the retainer been in?

Fixed retainer had been in there for approximately ten years. It was removed this morning and i also got my teeth cleaned this afternoon. I am getting optional removable ones that I'll wear at night at my own discretion. Feels liberating with it gone.

Good news. Probably nice not having to do complex flossing. I have a couple of bridges that require threading floss through.

I have one on the bottom and top. They haven't come off, but they fray so I have these tiny spears sticking out that cut up my tongue. I've just been flattening them with my fingernail, but never know when it will fray again. Need to go get a single strand wire put in. Why would an ortho put in a braided wire that frays like that??
