Agree. Kerr is a douche and only thought of himself as you stated. That could've been the only chance for his teammates to make an NCAA final and he let them down. Hope he gets destroyed tonight.
I'm not a teammate but from my perspective he's definitely not a douche. Kerr easily could have avoided the media after the race. I've seen my fair share of athletes, especially at collegiate level, just avoid media after a bad race. I've seen athletes jump fences etc.
Coach Franklin could have told Kerr to avoid the media instead he made him available. When I ran into coach Franklin they were checking out Kerr in relation to his stomach issue (making sure it wasn't something physical like a muscle strain). The practice area was almost empty. Coach Franklin wasn't upset at all. I LOVED coach Franklin's perspective. If you're going to talk after the good ones, why shouldn't you talk after the bad ones too.
Kerr said his teammates were encouraging with what they told him after race. He didn't seem defensive . Maybe you could argue that makes him selfish or something but I'd argue opposite. He's an athlete trying to perform and has put it behind him.
You might disagree with decision to shut it down but middle of that race I think he fell apart before that.
My favorite quote from evening was this from Franklin. "When you put this in perspective, if this is a bad day, this is a really good day. In the whole scheme of the world, we’re at a track meet, we’re at the NCAA championships, trying to run fast. Just [now] talking to the DMR [team], [I told them] if this is a bad day, this is a good day guys.”"
