Who cares? I wonder how many people sit around posting on message boards "bazap Drinks/Uses (Insert product name) to fuel during races / long runs? what???
If it works for her, then why not?
I seriously doubt that is real. Try running with fizzy drinks in your system; totally not happening. Great marketing of her though.

It's not that hard to believe.....I used to crush an energy drink before long marathon workouts (wasn't a coffee drinker). Didn't make my stomach upset at all.
Red Bull gives me bad gas ?
Frank Shorter used de-fizzed Coke, and it is still used in ultras today.

A favorite of many athletes!
And in the video, they show the bottle is mixed with a small can of Red Bull and then filled the rest of the way with water. This was a couple hours before she was going to take it in. So it is really, really close to the de-fizzed Coke (which I know many skiers also like, and often cut with some water as well).
Brian Sell used a Red Bull and Gatorade mixture.
Pretty common in triathlon, especially ironman distances.
To me, Red Bull, never seemed to be good for the heart. I don't think I would want to even try to run with it. What other people do is their own perogative.

It's not heavily carbonated. I could see it being used effectively.
I dont like that it is carbonated but once every 14 days or so I drink about 24oz of redbull in the morning. There are plenty of times I have run 6 to 10 miles later in the day.
I tend to not need very much to eat during the middle of the day when I do drink them.
Who cares? Some use EPO, T and HGH to fuel up.
There is no secret fuel or drink (besides epo, T and HGH) that works universally. Starbucks works for me!
i enjoy the occasional Rockstar/ Gatorade combo. Tastes good.
I would just as soon guzzle brake fluid as that crap. And I am not nursing a baby. The crap athletes take in their bodies amazes me sometimes.
If drink stations serve Coca Cola toward the end of Ironman then why not....
I think that is nothing unusual. For example I have been drinking Red Bull or something similar since 1999. I always drink one can of energy drink (don't care much about brands, I buy what is cheap in the supermarket) about ½ hour before the start to get me ready for the race. I also drink Coke in training. In my long run I might stop to buy one can of Coke and that hasn't caused any problems. Of course I don't need to drink anything in slower long runs but if I ran faster I buy either one bottle of water or one can Coke.
Who?

It varies person to person. I drink Diet Coke before long runs sometimes if I'm feeling tired in the morning, never an issue. I can't do coffee as I'll be praying to find a toilet within 45 minutes.
