Maybe I take it for granted being an American how easy it is to travel somewhere but who is to blame for Korir and McLeod not having visas?
The Korir situation sounds like it was last second and he was in NY trying to get the visa and his agent said there were computer problems. Are these computer problems on the Kenyan or UK side?
Omar McLeoud situation is weirder. Last Friday he was told he couldn't get a Visa. That's a full week to get it done.
Supposedly the JAAA didn't get him the paperwork in time to go to the consulate. Does this square? If Korir was trying to get a visa this week, why couldn't McLeod get one this week?
But the bigger picture is both are Commonwealth athletes and stars from the sport. Commonsense would say they should be able to get a visa. I'd think even without JAAA paperwork, McLeod could get a Visa to the UK. 1) He's wealthy 2) he has a stated reason to be in the UK.
Same thing with Korir. If I was him at I'm at the consulate in NY, could he go over to the UK consulate and try and talk some commonsense into them? Or is that the wheels of bureacracy?
Or is something else going on behing the scenes?
