Anybody have experiencing with doubling, with both runs in the afternoon? I am putting in a lot of mileage and my schedule changed to start work very early in the morning.
Any shared experiences would be helpful.

Depends on what time you are doing your second run I suppose.
I often double by running 8AM and 3PM and it works well for me. That would be like you doing 3PM and 10PM.

In the 1990s I went to work at 5 am and got home at 2.30 pm, so I ran at 3 pm and 7 pm. No problems at all.
When I was a high school teacher I did my first run after school at 3:30 or so and a second run around 8-9. Worked fine

Interesting. I am assuming you did your longer session at 3:30. How much and how often did you at 8-9?
Mark Nenow, former American record holder in 10,000 ran around lunchtime and 10pm, all on roads.

I would have trouble getting some quality sleep with your schedule. The CNS is slightly more activated after a run.
I remember one summer in college waking up @ 230 pm, getting my shakeout in (usually around 100 degrees out) head off to work, get back around 11 and getting my longer run/ workout at midnight. Mile repeats? On the roads. Fartleks? On the roads too. Shoot if I was feeling REALLY lazy I would get my first run in at midnight and stay up until the sun came up and get my other one in. Oh, college days.
