Does anyone know why so many freshmen have quit the A&M distance squad and dropped out of college? I knew that Ryan Trahan did but why are all his friends doing so too??
Is this a problem of team culture at Texas or does Trahan have something to do with it?
I find it hard to believe that ALL of them realized at the same time that a college education isn't the right fit, especially after barely one semester....

Maybe he tricked them into a pyramid scheme involving effing WATER BOTTLES, something everyone already has 5 of.
How he manages to make money selling water bottles is beyond me. I don't think I've ever gone out of my way to buy a water bottle in my life, let alone pay 30 freaking bucks to buy one online!!!
I bought a neptune bottle, but just to support him, I like his videos so I figured why not help the guy out... they are pretty good bottles though I must say. It's not really expensive considering it's a thermic stainless steel 1L bottle. But still, I'm pretty sure almost everyone that buys those bottles are people that watches his videos (and that's like what, I'd say about 95% of those are runners), so yeah not really enough to justify dropping out of college

Dude is super annoying. He will regret his decision to drop out of school to be a "youtuber". Folks, that's not a real job.

I can understand how Trahan may be able to earn a living through the youtube and water bottle businesses. He is a pretty likable guy and seems to know what he's getting into. His roommates that follow him around and apparently quit the team as well are the ones that I feel bad for. I scanned through a couple of their youtube videos, and they are straight up awful. They want to be Trahan so badly, and I guess they thought they had some momentum riding the coattails of his success. My prediction- it doesn't end well.

They definitely caused each other to quit and most of that group never 100% bought in. Division 1 running isn’t for everyone and if they want to try to make it as YouTubers best of luck to them. As the great Ron Swanson once said "Never half-ass two things. Whole-ass one thing."
There are still 3 freshman working hard everyday and a solid team of upperclassmen getting better week in and week out. Also great recruiting class coming in next year. The culture is whole-ass committed to getting better. Thanks and Gigem
There’s a 6 year old on YouTube that made $15m last year. It’s a real job.
I've heard via word of mouth that the Texas A&M track and field/XC program is very "type A" if that makes sense. They are supposedly strict about mileage per week and discourage taking time to treat injuries or feel fresh. Maybe Trahan and crew didn't like the atmosphere and culture of that training and so they decided to quit.
A&M is a weird place. Their midnight yells look like a Klan rally.

Trahan flunked out of the University after not attending class to spend time on his youtube channel. The other kids were the roommates who started to do the same things that Trahan was doing and before you know it they're all gone.
Is Texas A&M clearing staff? With the recent firing of their middle distance coach Alleyen Fracniqe, makes me wonder what’s going on down there.

This comment aged so poorly. Trahan now has 2 million subscribers and is easily making six figures a year.
I’m sure he’s perfectly content with the decision he made.
