Now, I understand you are just asking the question, but usually someone who asks that question either thinks that NO that is not ok or that they expect to get NO answers. I lean toward believing you think that is not ok. If I am wrong about that, then I apologize for labeling you so.
IF your answer to your own question is NO, then I say to you that if you aren't 100% Native American that you shove that opinion in your flan hole.
While we can admire these incredible runners from Kenya, let's not kid ourselves. With thanks to "Skeptical chap" from the Julian Wanders thread: A passport doesn't make them really "American" now does it? I'd rather we get our asses kicked than have ringers from another country bail us out. It sucks to be an also-ran, but at least it would be real.
Maybe Americans could start running for Qatar and Bahrain.

Also I don’t see race. If they’re living and training in America, they’re essentially American to me. (So basically, the USA medal count should actually include 85%+ of the medals won in Rio 2016 because the vast majority of Olympians train here)
But I think that the women’s team will be mostly white as per usual. Katelyn Tuohy will lead the way in the 5k.
Well, if an American -- a USA citizen -- qualifies for the OT, and then makes the team, that would seem like someone's 'dream becoming reality.' It would also fit with our ideals of being a land of opportunity that rewards hard work. So, I would be fine with it.
But I get your point --this is also a land of racism and fear of immigrants, even though damn near everyone in the country has an immigrant background. So, it's probably your nightmare becoming reality. Sweet dreams.

The original poster needs to get over himself. America is a melting pot of nations. You need to go see folks get sworn in as American citizens. You will not find a group of people who love America more.
If we had,( gasp at the tragedy) an all African born team those guys would be so proud to run for America and i would be proud of them.
My Family came to America in 1852 and I am no more American than naturalized citizens. People come to America because they know that if they anything is possible anyone can get ahead. Running is such a small part of it. Go spend some time in a emerging nation and maybe it will click when you come back.
Let me ask you this: How many players on your favorite pro football team are actually from the city on their jerseys? Yet you have no problem cheering for them.

I can't see Jager not being top 3 in the Trials, Also probably all 3 of the 800 Olympians will be American Born, Rupp is a lock in the Marathon, Centro in the 1500, Women Ajee Wilson, Lipsey and Raevyn Rogers and others, Coburn in the Steeple, Huddle< hasay etc.

While the writer didn't intend it that way, I can answer yes or no to any question. Example time:
Q - "What is your favorite color?"
A - "No"
Q - "How much money do you make in a year?"
A - "No"
What my reaction would be as pro athlete, born and raised in America ?
I would search if I could find some great grandmother with another nationality, so I could compete for that country (see Pappas or Torrence).
When immigrants come to the USA, gain citizenship, and thrive in the economy, I feel happy. I like accepting immigrants based on merit and who has more merit than Olympians?
Wait... except I don’t like Kenyan-borns on my team; it ruins the sport! So even if they have merit, they aren’t quite good enough to be accepted citizens unless they are white.
