He first broke 1:49 in April of 2015. He broke 1:47 in June of 2017.

I'd hardly call that 3 years. It's a lot closer to 2 in fact. Unless you're Bob Barker, of course.

3 seasons. He ran soph, jr and sr year of college and all 3 seasons he ran 1:48.

It was his second to last race of that 3rd season in which he ran 1:46. So, it would be proper to say that he ran 1:48 two seasons in a row and then ran 1:46 his third season. I'm not trying to take away from his accomplishment. It's just worded strange in my opinion.

Ok, a guy I used to coach at Cornell texted me to let me know that Prince was a phenom early in his HS career. He ran 1:51.68 in August of 2010 - an AAU intermediate record. So that was the summer after his freshman year of HS.

Born in April of 1994, he was a little bit old for his grade (but I was a July birthday and was 16 before my soph year of HS, he was 16 as a freshman).

So if you are looking for a rags to riches story, he's probably not your guy. Let me break it to you - those don't exist really. Anyone in the US final is a big talent. Period. But it's a great story about perseverence.

True, but he stagnated at that 1:51 and consistently ran 1:53-1:56 for a while his SO to end of SR season before he hit a 1:50.7 solo at the state meet. It even took him a while to get going in college, but as the article pointed out, he was being trained, essentially, as a sprinter. He has 47 speed, all he needs is the 4:00-4:05 strength and he can run a 1:45 low.

Clayton Murphy is going to WIN the 800m FINAL!!!

-More experience in pressured situations

-Stronger(aerobically)than every 800m runner in the field

-Every other 800 runner in the field has over raced to prove themselves when clayton should already know he is top American

-Training with new team means needed to find new legs

-Alberto knows how to prepare runners

-Finally has some base after a few weeks off

Math works out, Rojo is correct.

June 10 would be spring as well. He did not run 1:46 in the summer of 2017.
