They serve no purpose and attack people and pets. I can't understand why anyone would want to preserve something like that.

Because they're a key stone species.
Keeps the herbivores in check.
They should just stay in their shithole swamps.

There's a lot of things you don't understand, moran.

That’s a terrible idea! That would damage the local ecosystem!

That's been done already with Alligators. Apparently Mexicans are lighter on their feet.
It is our responsibility as humans to preserve the lives of man-eating reptiles. Even better if we sacrifice a few of the slow/dumb ones along the way.
Because non-human life is much more important than human life.

Unfortunately, the gator & croc population are decreasing due to many African pythons (formerly household pets) which were released into the Everglades and have decimated the Eco-system.

I agree, exterminate them all. We have other predators to do the job.
It's not that easy.
Florida declared open season on pythons. They are a recent invasive species. There are already hundreds of thousands in Florida. They kill small animals, which now have heavily reduced numbers. The state pays about $200 per foot of dead python.
The program barely made a dent. There was a TV documentary about a bounty hunter that I enjoyed.
