I gotta say - this might be the worst trend I've seen lately in running. Discuss.

Some people let things like that define them. Certainly are worse things to be obsessed about.

What's next - the "i brushed my teeth today" streak or the "i took a dump" streak?
All I'm saying is running 1 mile is not remarkable at all.. it's not an achievement worth talking about.

Uhhh... no sh*t. The people running 1 mile today would agree that running 1 mile is not remarkable at all. However, running at least 1 mile per day everyday for 5+ years is kind of cool and it gives them a reason to get out the door. More power to ‘em.

And yet, here you are talking about it.
You can't start this thread without telling us what the minimum amount of running would be to make it legit.
Well?
Streaking 1970s style in 0 degree F tempurature for at least a mile is quite impressive indeed.
I think it's incredible.
Every damn day? Even the day when your wife was in hospital and your kids needed to be picked up and minded and your boss was on your ass about a deadline and your dog got run over? Daaaaaaamn, that's dedication!
I wish everyone in the world ran a mile per day. We'd have a huge increase in hotties. Imagine (if you were single) being able to put the moves on a couple of different hotties per day, just because you were running near them at the time.
And think of the savings in health care! So many people would be fitter. And face it, this kind of moderation is actually better for you than extreme mileage that pros (and wannabes) do.
All glory to the milers!

Well?
3 miles feels right

Lamer than people who run 2+ miles a day to keep a streak going. Probably less lame than the OP.
I have talked to all three of the top streakers in the USA. All of them run more than one mile a day. In fact from what they told me the only time they do that is if they have a broken leg, sprained ankle, or have some other kind of injury. The #3 Streaker in the USA, Steve Deboer of Rochester, MN runs a marathon almost every year and enters other events as well.
Think about it. If you were that obsessed would you only be able to run one mile per day?
From the Wikipedia article on Ron Hill...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_Hill#Streak
Excerpt:
"Hill did not miss a day of running between 20 December 1964 and 30 January 2017 – a total of 52 years and 39 days. Hill defined a "run" as completing a distance of at least one mile at any pace. His streak included workouts after a car crash in 1993 when Hill broke his sternum, and after bunion surgery, after which he used a crutch to cover one mile (1.6 km) in 27 minutes the next day."
The "king of the running streak" says a mile is enough...
....but shuffling after a surgery? Heh heh...
