Seriously I don't get why more people didn't talk about his 2:05:48 at Fukuoka, that has to be the fastest time of any white person in history (other than 20 mph tailwind year at Boston)

Ummmm ever hear of Galen Rupp?

He said "fastest," not "slow marathoner who knows which races to pick to win anyway."
Galen is fast but his PR is 2:09 that's a world away from 2:05 on a hot day.
At what distance? At the marathon? Yes.

Cause normal people don't give a damn what someone's skin color is. Kenyan, Norwegian, who cares none of them are American. But while we're on the subject, Norway has a lot of talent for a tiny country, they had 400H gold, 1500m bronze at the last WC, 5th place 1500m in 2012 Olympics, the best U18 runner in the world last year with a 3:56 mile at age 16. And now a 2:05 guy big deal, the country is literally a hotbed of endurance talent if they ever cared about running and just 1/10 and 1/20 the size of Kenya/Ethiopia, just look at the Olympic Winter Games medals tables. One random family in Norway decided to shift away from XC skiing and they had 3 brothers run 3:5x mile in the same meet last year lol...if Norway was the size of Ethiopia and had the same level of interest in distance running you would see them poaching quite a few of the medals. But that's just not where the glory (or $) is there.

RUPP vs. Moen - who you taking at the marathon distance?
I'll answer for you - RUPP.

I’d bet on Moen everyday of the week.

I'll bump this thread if/when they race for a bet :-)

I hate to be cynical, but that's the truth for the majority of the world...

The US has enough interest that the most talented athletes are likely to try the sport at one point or another. And genetics plays a big part, you won't see a plethora of fast Indians/Nigerians/Samoans even if distance running became the national sport. East Africa/Morocco have a lot of endurance talent, and Norwegian athletes have displayed similar propensity, mostly through dominance in XC skiing. While the physical requirements of the sports are somewhat different, there's clearly a lot of potential elite runners in Norway. Do you think any other families there train like the Ingebrigtsens? If 1000 families dedicated their life to it rather than 1 (and there are thousands who do for XC skiing) you would definitely see a lot more Norwegians making a mark on the world stage. There are probably 100 Moens in Norway who just care a lot more about the winter games than ever running a fast marathon. In Kenya, any talent discovered early on is cultivated and not transferred to skis.

Pretty sure a lot of people talked about it:

Problem is... this will never happen now as Rupp will never run another real marathon outside US soil....
Moen will have chicken Galen for dinner any day of the week....
How would he do against Guliyev in the 100 & 200?? I think not so well...
I am still faster.

Make them run over hurdles and see if they can beat the American women, e.g., Keni Harrison.
Because Norwegian skiers are doped up to the gills. Sundby, Johaug... They're probably turning to running now that their skiers are getting caught.
Rupp was 4 minutes/16 spots ahead of Moen at the Olympics. Maybe Moen needs to show up to Boston and see if he can beat Rupp on a traditionaly slower course?

That does not answer the question. Stick to the facts. In 2017, Is it true or not that Rupp ran a PB of low 2:09 in Chicago?
Is it true or not that Moen ran a PB of 2:05:48?
Then the answer is YES.
Is it true that Rupp is 1-0 vs Moen?
Is it true that some marathon courses are faster than others?
Is it true that Rupp's strategy is always to attempt to podium?
Is it true that Moen's strategy has been to gun for PB's?
Is it true that I wish I could hold either of their marathon paces for a 10k?
Is it true that arguing with people on letsrun is a futile waste of time?
Is it true that the fastest non African is Usain Bolt since he can run faster than any marathoners?
Oh it's true, it's damn true!
