Here's an idea for the NCAA. A school can have either cross country or track but not both.

That's one of the stupidest ideas I've ever seen here.

+1
And considering you posted it here, that's saying a lot. You should be ashamed.
That’s a dumb idea. Why should anyone do that?
How about you stop telling people what to do.
YOUR CAPS LOCK IS ON

Here's an idea for the BroJos. Ban "New Idea" for being a moran.
If you have a track team, you essentially already have an XC team. What benefit would come from hiring distance coaches and recruiting a distance team for track, then not having the same people compete in the fall?
Not to pile on, but it's a completely invalid idea. Especially to schools like Oklahoma State, where there's at least an 80 percent overlap between cross country and track recruits.
Distance runners are the only people that compete in 3 seasons with no break. This would allow the runners to compete in one semester and have more time for studying and a life outside of athletics.
Go back to bed- that is the dumbest idea I've ever heard- and I live in the era where Trump is President.
Sure
XC should be in February and March anyway and you can't do that along with indoor track.
And the real track season starts in late June after NCAA outdoor track

Runners are going to train year-round regardless of whether they are technically in-season. If anything, eliminating a formal XC season would just result in runners being expected to train even harder in the fall since they wouldn't have races to taper for or train around.
This will also allow all cross country teams to carry larger rosters without running afoul of title 9.
Also sprint powerhouses won't have to pretend to field a cross country team

Huh?
It’s not anything like your proposal, but IIRC, the NCAA T&F Committee did at one time at least discuss getting rid of Indoors. This would have been late 80s/early 90s. Another proposal was to keep it but only pay for a school’s travel expenses to indoor or outdoor NCAA’s but not both. The school got to choose.
Glad they didn’t mess with it.
Nice troll post, looks like you've got some biters

maybe trolling but it really should be considered until NCAA considers xc indoor and outdoor 3 different sports that are recruited and given out scholarships as 3 different sports. you give a runner a scholarship for xc, if you want them to run indoor or outdoor, well then give them a scholarship for that sport as well.
