How many more races is this dude gonna DNF/DNS? How do you go from running 2:02 to not being able to run 5 minute pace?

Yeah, wonder why.
The real Dennis Kimetto died. This one is an imposter using the name to get appearance fees.

That would be a excellent movie plot
He needs to join NOP and be breaking 2:05 in no time

The simple answer is drugs. Kimetto is talked about in hushed tones among elite circles in Kenya and Ethiopia. It was very easy for him to run fast when he came from nowhere and wasn't in the testing pool. Not so easy when you make the noise he did.
An ever better story line would be an elite that almost misses a race due to the power going out in his hotel the night before. Then, while leading the race and is about to win, he accidentally drinks a spectators burning hot coffee instead of water.

We've seen Rainman and Forrest Gump.
Movies about retards have been done to death.

I think you’re the retard here, bro. Did you grow up in Trinidad & Tobago or something?

Nah. He was a peasant/subsistence farmer who came into more money than he'd ever fathomed largely due to raw talent in contrast to the monkish athletic dedication of a, say, Eliud Kipchoge. Besides, he was blighted by injuries which proved difficult to come back from caused in part by lack of drive and motivation after that spectacular 2:02 in Berlin. Not all super fast marathoners have longevity. Something similar happened with Patrick Makau.
dude, you know its drugs, drugs, drugs
Ya.
Some farmer just 'somehow' ran 2:02 for a marathon just off talent.
Please.
Your countrymen love the drugs and you know it.

That's pretty dumb... but it would be a great plotline for a sitcom.

Well more precisely it is regular testing.
He broke his body after WR like many who treaded that time. When you fly close to the sun, you get burned.
He's no Kipsang or Kipchoge.
This dude did not come out of nowhere to break the record.
In 2011, he won the RAK Half Marathon and Nairobi Half Marathon 1:00/1:01
In 2012, he won the Berlin Half Marathon in 59:42, and he won the BIg 25 berlin in 1:11. He
went to run Berlin that same year, and ran 2:04 for second place
In 2013, he won Tokyo in 2:06, and he Chicago in 2:03
IN 2014, he broke the WR with a 2:02 time , and in 2o15 he ran 2:05 to finish 3rd in the
london marathon.
AFter that, the dude was done! Body became totally shot. There was a natural progression with his running,
and of course he declined after pushing his body to PR like crazy. No PEDS in the world can save a shot body.
So I don't think he was juicing like that. You can tell when he runs that he is done, because he just can't finish races
anymore. We saw it with Haile towards the end of his career. HE DNF'd 3 of his last 4 marathons, but his body became
shot due to becoming old... however, shot is shot.
Look at Bekele, his body is shot after pushing fast for all those years.

IKR? Here I was ready to debate and then some idiot blasts his ignorance for all to see by stating Dennis came out of nowhere. Why bother?

Agreed. Why do we assume that someone who ran 2:02 should just continue to keep pumping those out? Kipchoge is not the norm, the marathon is hard. Running fast marathons is harder. You can't do it for ever.
Kimetto had a good run (hah!). Nothing is wrong with him.

The real question is if you are the world record holder, how long can you keep using that to collect appearance fees? I assume the are stipulations / bonuses for completing a certain distance, but I am not really familiar with how those contracts are structured. If I were him I would keep doing it as long as possible...
