About to start my first semester as a track coach and interested in knowing the pros and cons of each method as they relate to high schoolers.

Jeff Galloway has crafted many well respected training plans. If you need to remember one, and only one, thing it is the importance of the walk break. Even in the shorter sprint events the athlete will experience significant performance gains through the inclusion of multiple walk breaks. The walk break serves to refresh the runner and helps them to realize the philosophical importance of the run

To try the DANCAN-system you get all in one package. Great system.

What can you tell about training this system for high schoolers? Their isn't much information online. I went to USATF level 1 and our instructor is a well known NCAA junior college coach and said his team has adapted very well dancan but didn't do much detail. He said they start teaching it at level 2. What other information, maybe websites or books are there?
JS SPAMS EVERY THREAD ABOUT RUNNING!!!!
And if that isn't enough, he feels the added need to pretend he is someone else so he can have conversations with himself!
WHY ISN'T THIS SPAMMING IDIOT BANNED????
Maybe because he drives clicks and clicks drive ad revenue? Not sure that this is it, but seems like a possibility.

Mr "Go Away". It`s not me telling this about junior coaches try to copy my system. And obvious with good results I see. :) Check the English and you see my Swinglish is not the same. ;)
Anyway.....to get the best result with young runners there should be most threshold work, distance work at individual pace and only enough of it. Also important to develop sprint speed in the younger years.Same idea ,except the sprint speed,as Jakob Ingebrigtsen have followed. Forget about high mileage.

It`s not that Smoove. :) A lot of runners and coaches will look up on DANCAN as some new and interesting way to reach optimal performance with less mileage. The old school will be phased out......
It's simple
Base phase - tempos, hills, and long runs
Race pace phase - tempos, lactate threshold, long runs
Speed phase - tempos, under race pace, and easy runs
Common sense brah

Forget about phases! Run almost the same year round. Thats the new "common sense".

The most shocking thing about the googling DANCAN was finding that Jack Daniels is on Facebook. I am floored!
I'd wait for PFITLYDCANHANDAN.

Those types of workouts seem to be repeated throughout different training schedules. I would like to know which system is most complete for a wide range of high school level abilities.

The DANCAN-system suits HS-runners best. Why? They are always ready to race frequently and there is a wide range of
distances that suits the system, 800m-10000m and XC.
Lydiard for the win.
If COACH J.S å ä ö was a good coach by any standards, he wouldn't have to spend many hours a day, seven days a week, desperately whoring himself on every training thread for anyone to coach. If that wasn't enough, he also makes up multiple fake names every single day so he can talk to himself. Give that some thought, if any thought is actually needed.

This thread is a great example of this. Why does he feel he has to do it?
Jan is a psychopath. Mentally ill. Stay away from this idiot.
