Amazing that Timothy Ritchie came back and won that race in such a time after literally quitting running a year ago. I hope success to the man and that now he can get the sponsors and money that he needs to make a living out of it. I read that one reason that he quit running was due to the complete crap amount of money he got out of it.

Good win by Sara. Some muscular looking guy on bike was seen on course yelling at her to "Expect Great Things".
MUSGA -
one of the athletes in the hudson group hit 20 miles at 1:39, then ran the last 10k close to 40 mins...
-
Zablocki with the 2:13...
Lot of surprisingly fast times there today among the top 15 guys, weather must have been perfect. -
Cabada was in 3rd through mile 20 and then finish in 20th place dropping average pace from 5:05 to 5:15, wth happened?

But he's been sponsored by Saucony for years? And is part of the Saucony Freedom Track club now? He made bank today though. $20k for the win + I'm sure bonuses and future appearance money for marathons. -
Looks like Arciniaga DNF'd?

I wouldn't sponsor someone doing 2.12 unless there was good evidence there were several minutes more to come. -
Sponsor a 2.12 guy? wrote:

Pro runners are paid by sponsors based on perceived performance, what great things they will do in the future. Everyone wants the young gun, not the old guy, even if he is good. -
Ashley Brasovan (sp?) in the top 20.

Parker Stinson, Oregon graduate who seems as if he’s been floating around trying to find what he’s best at. Sub-28 10k runner who I’m fairly sure debuted in the half marathon this year. He hasn’t had any incredibly special results yet but he’s had some decent finishes on the roads of late and he’s still kinda young. -
Everytime a 2:11 newcomer arrives, he runs 2:21 at the trials.

I'm guessing he got tired and slowed down -
As much as I dislike Galen Rupp, He is our only hope.
2:12 for the men? That time wouldn't even make a top 100 time in Kenya or Ethiopia.
America has 2 sub 2:10 guys, Galen and Nathan. That is disgusting.
Yes we are great tactical runners, but we ARE SLOW AS FOCK. It needs to change. -

Get me up to speed on this Nathan character; first I've heard of him. What are his PR's? Where'd he run in college?
;) -

The thing is this- back in the 80's when road racing was big, all the top Americans were racing on the roads.
After the race they were there in the food tent or hanging out at the awards ceremony to talk to and mingle.
That makes them worth some money to a shoe company.
I remember talking to Jerry Kiernan (OK-he's Irish but still) at a 5K. We were talking like we were friends.
This happened a lot- maybe he's just a cool guy who sells a brand just by hanging out with us regular people. -
