It varies for each muscle, but it usually takes about 30 seconds before the Golgi Tendon Organ kicks in and begins to relax the muscle. When you first stretch a muscle the muscle spindle resists the stretch then after about 30 seconds or so the GTO kicks in and relaxes it. Defense mechanism.
What about dynamic stretches? Anyone here do these?
Mix it up. Ballistic/dynamic stretches do a better job of stretching the sheath. Both static/ballistic can be beneficial.
